      Position Overview

      The Continuous Improvement Cement Technician is responsible for leading continuous improvement projects at the Ash Grove Mississauga Cement Plant. The position is required to be on site with a varied schedule (to include nights and weekends during busier periods). Selected candidates will be assigned to a department based on skill sets and business needs. Departments include: Production, Process, Maintenance, Environment and Quality. Cement Technicians who excel will be strongly considered for permanent employment.

      Compensation: $25.00/hr

      Position Type: 12-month contract, 37.5 hours/week

      Overtime Eligible: Yes

      Location: Ash Grove Mississauga Cement Plant, 2391 Lakeshore Rd. W, Mississauga, ON

      Key Responsibilities

      · Prepare cost-benefit analyses

      · Analyze operating system and production data for efficiencies

      · Assist in the development of operational and maintenance procedures, ensure sufficient communication across all shift teams

      · Support projects related to environmental compliance and improvement

      · Contribute to sustainable operations and greenhouse gas reduction targets

      · Test and audit plant systems

      · Complete failure investigations and support root causes analyses

      · Support shut-down maintenance activities by acting as confined space entry monitor

      · Conduct data analysis and prepare written reports

      · Complete field inspections

      · Develop technical specifications and instructions, prepare training materials as required

      Qualifications

      Education/Experience

      · Bachelor of Applied Science

      o Preferred disciplines include: Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering

      · Bachelor of Science

      o Preferred specializations include: Environmental Science

      · 0+ years experience, new graduates welcome

      Knowledge/Skills Required

      · Proficient computer skills, experience with MS Excel and/or SAP a plus

      Physical Requirements

      Position requirements may vary and be non-routine at times. Cement Technicians may be required to work outside, at heights, in warm and/or cold temperatures, around water, in dusty environments and confined spaces. Position will be predominantly day shift, but incumbent may be required to work night shift or weekends as necessary.
