- The Contracts Engineer is a technical position in ExxonMobil Global Projects that leads the development and implementation of project contracting strategies and development of contracts in the Select and Define stages of major capital projects.
- The position will be based in Spring, TX
- Supports Contracting Strategy development including Work Breakdown Structures
- Develop Contracting Plans for each contract consistent with the overall Contracting Strategy
- Ensures relevant contractor information, market intelligence and lessons learned on previous projects are reviewed and used to optimize project contracting strategies
- Provide guidance and leadership in contractor screening and qualification, bid slate development, bidding and evaluation of proposals for project contracting activities
- Lead and manage the project contract development process, including coordination of Job Specification components, assisting in contractor evaluation, selection, and award recommendation
- Lead the commercial evaluation as a member of the Bid Review Team and ensure that commercial impact of any contractual or technical/execution issues that are resolved/changed during the evaluation period are accurately reflected in final total evaluated cost and contract price
- Ensure all documents, exhibits and functional review requirements are complete
- Develops contract risk & mitigation plans
- Develop and lead internal kick-off meeting with project team personnel to ensure contract understanding, review contract terms and conditions, change order process, and claims avoidance
- Develop materials for external kick-off meetings with contractor personnel to review key clauses of the Principal Document, Coordination Procedure, contract deliverables, change order process, business practices, etc.
- Capture and communicate contract development lessons learned for the project
- BS, MS, MBA in Engineering, Law, or other applicable business degree
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in contracting or contract administration
- Business trips domestic or international are expected to be at least 10% of the time
- Must be willing and able to travel or relocate as required, including internationally
- Preferred prior Oil & Gas industry experience
- Prior experience working for an O&G operator is a plus
