      Lab Summary:

      The Legal Department at Samsung Research America (SRA) headquartered in Mountain View, CA provides legal support for the SRA labs that work on cutting-edge innovations and departments such as Finance, Purchasing, IT, and general affairs.

      Position Summary:

      In this role, you will support SRA business leaders who are developing its technologies, products, and services by collaborating with engineering, procurement, and business teams on a variety of matters, including product design and development, research collaborations and partnerships, and general business services. You will also help provide creative solutions to mitigate risks presented by the development of innovative technologies, while drafting, negotiating, and overseeing service that facilitate the design and development of various technologies.

      Position Responsibilities:

      • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including research agreements, service agreements and statements of work, vendor agreements, privacy and data security agreements, and confidentiality agreements.
      • Make recommendations on contractual, risk, and compliance issues.
      • Conduct legal and non-legal research, fact-finding and due diligence projects.
      • Perform efficient and timely delivery of advice; anticipate, mitigate, and advise regarding any potential problems that arise in contractual arrangement across corporate groups and third-party relationships.
      • Create and maintain contract playbook and clause library for the department.
      • Develop, draft, and maintain standard form contracts for the department, with input from the department’s legal counsels.
      • Work collaboratively with the General Counsel and legal counsels to address and resolve contract development issues.
      • Assist with the processing and signing of contracts, as needed, for the department.
      • Other duties as assigned.

      Required Skills:

      • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Legal, or a related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
      • 6+ years of experience at a technology company or university, drafting and negotiating contracts for commercial transactions, including master service agreements, statements of work, orders, research agreements, and confidentiality agreements.
      • Strong understanding of contracts and contract terms.
      • Ability to advise business teams and management on contractual matters and other related issues, including privacy, security, and AI ethics.
      • Capable of fostering and facilitating teamwork by cultivating relationships, collaborating, and effectively communicating with teammates and cross-functional partners.
      • Strong communication and analytical skills
      • Ability to navigate and resolve issues in creative and effective ways while displaying sharp business insight and analytical skills.
      • Good judgment, including good business judgment.

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • International company experience
      • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school

Within the base pay range, individual rates depend on a number of factors—including the role’s function and location as well as the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, education and training. This is part of our comprehensive compensation package with annual bonus eligibility and generous benefits to help you live life well.

      $141,600 $194,650 USD
