Job Description

- Manage the site Automation/Control System (policies, procedures, routines, etc.) and permeate it to all operational areas under scope
- Develop maintenance plans for Instrumentation, Control Systems and Automation technologies, improving current and / or developing new ones.
- Responsible of stablishing a roadmap for Plant needs in mid & long term to achieve operational excellence.
- Develop, update and install machine programs using automation software and custom coding languages (e.g. Ladder Diagram, Sequential Function Charts, Function Block Diagram ETC.).
- Responsible of PLC and HMI program database (Instruments, Interlocks and Alarms).
- Documentation Control(update/revision) for control system documentation (single lines/wiring/alarms/interlocks)
- Drawing electrical or mechanical schematics to demonstrate how processes will work.
- Install, diagnose, and repair AC & DC circuits (Single and 3 phase)
- VFD/Smart starters Programming and troubleshooting
- Ethernet Networks maintenance & troubleshooting
- Plant Instrumentation calibration, maintenance & troubleshooting
- Diagnose and repair electro - pneumatic controls and circuits.
- PLC & HMI Programming following a standardized set of controls and page styles.
- On-site & On-line troubleshooting support to plant controls & electrical personnel
- Review periodically controls system performance (PID’s performance, Alarm System KPI’s)
- Assist with on-site instrumentation/control systems commissioning process
- Support to maintain & improve Automation Server & Operator Control Terminals
- Periodically perform plant-wide programming code backup system
- Provide after – commissioning training to maintenance / electrical plant personnel on instrumentation/PLC/HMI
- Perform periodically test of Interlocks & Alarms programmed in the control system
- Engineering
- Automation and control / Electrical/ Mechatronics
- At least 4 years in automatization projects + 2 years in maintenance (within operations / plants)
- Safety First Approach
- Able to Travel
- PLC Programming Software (Allen Bradley / Schneider Electric)
- HMI Programming Software (Intouch / Ignition SCADA)
- Database Software Knowledge (MySQL)
- Familiarity with industry standards, regulations and best practices (e.g. ISA, ANSI, NEC)
- Strong understanding of control system theory & instrumentation
- Troubleshooting
- Intermediate English Level

Covia is looking for a dynamic Control Engineer who will have a positive impact on the Automation Team in our Center South Plants as Jaltipan (Veracruz), San Juan (Veracruz), Ahuazotepec (Puebla), Tlaxcala and San José (Guanajuato); as a Control Engineer, you will be responsible to differentiate Automation & Control processes at the different Plants to move current standardization initiatives at faster pace e.g. Documentation, PLC Programming, HMI Programming, Troubleshooting and execution of Automation and Control projects that require capital expenses and can improve plant performance.
