  Plan2Placement is proud to partner with a well-established construction company located in Torrance in their search for a Controller. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic team and play a key leadership role in managing all aspects of the company's financial operations.

  About the Role:

  As the Controller, you'll oversee the day-to-day accounting operations and provide strategic financial guidance to the executive team. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working in the construction industry and will bring strong leadership, analytical, and organizational skills to the table.

  Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all accounting functions including AP, AR, payroll, general ledger, job costing, and financial reporting
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Oversee project billing, WIP reports, and cost-to-complete analysis
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal financial controls
  • Partner with project managers and operations teams to provide financial insights and budget oversight
  • Manage cash flow, forecasting, and budgeting processes
  • Collaborate with external auditors, tax preparers, and financial institutions
  • Lead a small accounting team and provide mentorship and support
  • Recommend and implement process improvements and financial systems enhancements

  Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA a plus)
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a Controller role
  • Prior experience in the construction industry is required
  • Strong understanding of job costing, project billing, and WIP reporting
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, QuickBooks)
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
