- Design safe systems and always work safely
- Propose solutions, create the business case and gain support for your projects
- Design, purchase, develop, test and maintain systems
- Analyse data and presenting findings in written reports
- Working collaboratively with a team of engineers, technicians and internal departments to achieve your goals
- Liaising with suppliers and contractors to obtain quotes and review contracts
- Develop and nurture our engineering teams to improve their knowledge
- Create test plans and associated documentation
- Machine and process automation support for existing automation systems as well as implementation of control systems for new process and support equipment.
- Provide technical support for site control systems.
- Assist with the implementation of manufacturing systems.
- Project management.
- Installation and maintenance of control system hardware and software.
- Ensure control system documentation is maintained up to date.
- Troubleshooting of Siemens PLC and electrical systems.
- You will require skills in programmable logic controllers (PLC), distributed control systems (DCS) and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA). The site generally adopts Siemens systems, therefore familiarity with S300, S1200, S1500 and WinCC, would be beneficial.
- Demonstrable experience of concurrent project delivery with strong and proactive stakeholder management skills
- Strong analytical skills, be proficient in IT as you will be using MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams. A working understanding of Microsoft PowerApps, PowerBI and Power Queries is desirable.
- You must have an adaptable approach and be able to use own initiative and work to tight deadlines with excellent communication, interpersonal and team working skills.
- Experience with ATEX/DSEAR installations is desirable.
- Collaborate and work well with peers in order to build rapport throughout the site with ability to influence and motivate, educating others with a best practice approach.

Job Description
Working as the Controls & Instrumentation Engineer for Element Six you will be leading the development of best-in-class control disciplines to achieve operational results by delivering extremely high-reliability systems.
Ideally, you will have knowledge of advanced process control (APC) and predictive maintenance (PdM).
This position is for someone to lead the way and not follow. In the role you will be expected to:-
