Job Description

- Perform machine controls programming and troubleshooting of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Human Machine Interface (HMI), and industrial communications networks
- Assist in determining standards in code for PLC and HMI programs
- Responsible to ensure use of the electrical and programming standards for panels and site installations.
- Ensure that all necessary electrical safe work practices are adhered to by both CHEP and contract personnel
- Ability to communicate to vendors and make decisions using industry standard knowledge (controls theory, mechanical/electrical systems, and passive infrastructure)
- Work with FMS team, Operations and Engineering to implement and improve RFID implementations .
- Conduct acceptance testing in coordination with Operations and key stakeholders
- Controls Engineer is responsible for supporting the Supply Chain Team in achieving business objectives.
- Ontime delivery of assigned tasks and systems within budget
- Standardization and improvement of PLC systems as related to assigned tasks
- Adherence to CHEP programming standards and methodology
- Supporting the resolution of all Customer/Operations electrical problems through root cause analysis utilizing team resources.
- Working Autonomously
- Provide documentation and transfer knowledge to the team
- Engineering [Primary], Automation Team, Information Technology, Security, Compliance, Maintenance Excellence, Health & Safety, Operations
- Equipment suppliers, Integrators, General Contractors, Plant/Service Center Management Groups
- Meet or exceed Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or other related Engineering
- Proficient with Rockwell devices and Programming
- Familiar with OSHA regulations and standards
- Extremely detail oriented individual
- Familiarity with RFID, Vision, and Scanner technologies
- Project Management basics
- Familiar with basic safety protocols in a manufacturing environment
- 2-5 years' experience in Electrical/Control systems in a relay/PLC based controls.
- Design, development, implementation in a fast-paced industrial, logistics, production manufacturing environment
- Operations experience, supporting production
- Experience with RFID, Vision, and Scanners preferred
- Experience with High Level programming with Rockwell Studio 5000 and older software
- Experience with networked devices using Ethernet or DeviceNet
- Experience with electrical theory, Robotics, Controls components, automated equipment
- Experience managing time and components of the assignment
- Familiar with basic industrial electrical wiring, process piping, and machine guarding principles
- Allen-Bradley, Rockwell Automation PLC, Drives, and control systems
- Material Handling stacking and conveyor & robotic systems, specifically Yaskawa, a plus
- Familiar with Networking principles and equipment
- Communication skills to clearly convey information within the team and to external resources.
- Working knowledge of the use of AutoCAD, SolidWorks & Emulate 3D is a plus

The primary responsibilities of the Electrical Controls Engineer are to support complex Automation solutions allowing CHEP to reach goals of a touchless plant. One key assignment will be implementation of PLC programming to support RFID and QR applications.
Location: Remote US Based, must be within a reasonable distance of a major airport.
