You will work in a fast-food environment preparing food items from a limited menu. You will be responsible for ensuring food safety and quality control for your facility. In addition, you will be an integral part of the team- your interpretation of written instructions and calculations will help determine the amount of food necessary to prepare our daily menus. Major Duties
Performs a full range of simple cooking by preparing and cooking items that required little or no processing such as pancakes, sausage, eggs, French toast, chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, fresh or canned vegetables. Prepares all forms of hot cereals; broil meats; prepares and cooks concentrated or dehydrated soups, sauces and gravies; and makes cold sandwiches and sandwich fillings.
Prepares pureed diet foods such as peas and spinach and convenience items such as frozen hash browns, French fries, fish fillets and chicken nuggets. Also prepares and bakes pizza. Adds seasonings to food and regulates cooking temperatures. Adjusts food orders for the number of servings required.
In addition, prepares food by peeling, chopping, grinding, paring, cutting, slicing, dicing, pureeing, dredging, flouring or breading; weigh, measure and assemble ingredients for regular and modified menu items; set up and replenish a salad bar; portion foods for distribution and meal service and cover, date and store leftovers according to established procedures.
Operates a variety of kitchen equipment which utilizes gas, electricity, steam or microwave heat sources. Disassemble/assemble component parts and accessories for cleaning and following safety procedures regarding the operation of equipment to avoid personal injury or damage to the equipment.
Uses, cleans, stores and maintains all kitchen utensils and maintains equipment and work areas after each use practicing a ''clean as you go'' concept. Also, performs other cleaning tasks, i.e., walls, ceilings, floors, worktables, walk-in refrigerator/freezers and duckboards) following an established cleaning schedule. Responsible for following established sanitation and procedures when handling food; ensures foods are stored at the correct temperatures to prevent bacteria growth.
Maintains accurate food inventories and rotates stock items to prevent spoilage. Participates, along with supervisory/management staff, in the establishment and achievement of service and sales goals for the food facility. Assists in ensuring optimum stock availability by taking periodic stock counts, advising management staff of slow-moving, out-of-stock, defective, and damaged merchandise.
Resolves customer complaints at the lowest level and informs management of barriers to meeting the optimal customer experience. Serves customers during slack periods and provides work direction to assigned food service workers and lower graded cooks. Actively communicates/promotes the benefits of the Military Star credit card to customers in order to drive sales growth and increase customer loyalty.
