      Reporting to the Supervisor, Environment, the Environmental Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the HVC Environmental Management System (EMS), manages the EMS to conform to ISO 14001, ensures legal compliance, handles environmental incidents, and assists audits.

      Seeking a candidate with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Must collaborate effectively with diverse partners.

      This is an exciting opportunity for someone that excels in document management, organization and driving continual improvement through the development and implementation of robust processes. You will gain broad exposure to multiple departments and activities within our operations.

      Responsibilities

      • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental ethics and procedures.
      • Facilitate and maintain ISO 14001 certification requirements at Highland Valley Copper.
      • Work closely with site personnel in other departments to advance environmental performance across the mine site.
      • Follow the Plan, Do, Check, Act management system model to drive Continual Improvement.
      • Review, manage and maintain environmental procedures to ensure they remain current and accurate.
      • Coordinate robust document control processes of environmental documents within SharePoint.
      • Maintain an up-to-date and accurate compliance database within the management system software platform (SiteLine).
      • Support software users to ensure timely, efficient and accurate data entry.
      • Host scheduled meetings to report on the status of the EMS to various levels of the organization.
      • Coordinate environmental inspection program to monitor and evaluate site environmental performance.
      • Coordinate ISO 14001 and support Corporate Environmental Compliance and Assurance audits.
      • Ensuring timely internal and external reporting of environmental incidents and performance.
      • Support detailed environmental incident investigations including root cause analysis and the development of corrective actions to address root causes.
      • Leading the development, implementation, and tracking of departmental budgets and budget forecasting on an annual basis. This position plays a crucial role in aligning departmental spending with organizational goals while maintaining financial accountability.
      • Complete other responsibilities as assigned or required.

      Qualifications

      • A degree or diploma or equivalent experience in business management, environmental science, engineering, or law.
      • A minimum of two years’ experience in mining, resource development, industrial operations, environmental management, environmental assessment, or regulatory field.
      • Strong organizational, time management, interpersonal and communication skills.
      • Technical knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and effective industry practices.
      • Experience with compliance management software (e.g. SiteLine) is a significant asset, but training will be provided.
      • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively and efficiently as a team member and with external communities of interest including regulatory agencies and Indigenous groups.
      • Ability to coordinate priorities based on deadlines and strong attention to detail.

      Salary Range: $91,000 - $113,000

      The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and proficiencies and considers internal equity.
