Utah Valley University is seeking a dynamic Coordinator to join our team! This pivotal role involves partnering with instructors and department administrative support to recruit, screen, hire, train, and supervise instructional assistants (IAs) dedicated to supporting instructional faculty across all departments within the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS). The Coordinator will design and implement comprehensive IA orientation, training programs, and relevant certifications, ensuring high-quality support for faculty and enriching the educational experience for students. • Recruits, hires, and trains Instructional Assistants assigned to support instructional faculty across all department with in CHSS.
• Designs and implements IA orientation, training, and any applicable certifications. Ensures IAs are trained in FERPA. Mentors IAs in strategies to maximize student success. Oversees IA office space.
• Interfaces regularly with faculty during the semester to assess the quality of IA work and the effectiveness of IA support. Promotes professional development and accountability. Works to resolve any issues between IAS, students, faculty, and staff. Reports assessment findings regularly to Associate Dean and Department Chairs
• Manages IA scheduling. Monitors IA work hours and approves time submissions in TIMS. Works with CHSS Financial Manager to ensure that hourly expenses are within budgeted allowances and allocated to the correct department index.

Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in directly related field of study or a combination of education and experience totaling four years is required.

• Knowledge of best practices related to instruction, grading, and mentoring of students.
• Knowledge of FERPA and other confidentiality protocols.
• Familiarity with available student resources on campus.
• Must have excellent communication skills.
• Skilled in fostering collaboration.
• Ability to supervise, train, observe, and evaluate part-time employees.
• Ability to solve problems and communicate effectively with faculty, students, and staff from all academic levels and disciplines.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
