- Participates in the design and development of the division’s training plan in consultation with all stakeholders.
- Ensures the training plan reflects division-wide learning needs as identified through ongoing needs assessment.
- Develops and makes recommendations for innovative practices.
- Designs, develops and delivers training sessions for full-time, seasonal and part-time employees.
- Creates divisional, or branch learning content for a variety of delivery methods including instructor led classroom training, eLearning, multimedia programs, WebEx virtual training and other computer-aided instructional technologies
- Conducts training-for-trainer courses within a district or functional area.
- Coordinates, maintains and updates mandatory training programs.
- Liaise with subject matter experts to create training and tailored course to address the training needs of staff.
- Completes and maintains training records and prepares reports.
- Assists division staff in designing, conducting and evaluating program-specific training initiatives.
- Advises staff regarding individual learning needs and investigates appropriate training opportunities.
- Researches, identifies and contracts external training resources.
- Prepares and updates training resource materials, workshop curriculum and maintains a training resource library.
- Maintains the inventory of training materials and equipment.
- Monitors and contributes to the development of the training budget.
- Provides functional direction and support to part-time staff.
- Required to travel to various locations in a timely fashion.
- Post-secondary education in training, education or related field or equivalent combination of experience and/or education.
- Considerable experience facilitating in person and/or virtual adult and youth learning and education; i.e. researching, designing, developing, delivering, coordinating, and evaluating training and workshops.
- Considerable experience with MS Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook) including Webex.
- Experience with instructional design principles and methodologies for planning, developing, and designing eLearning using management systems.
- Ability to assess and identify training needs, and to initiate, coordinate and lead simultaneous projects.
- Ability to coordinate with subject matter experts, and to design and develop technical materials.
- Effective group facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
- Excellent administrative and organizational skills.
- Ability to set training priorities and develop work plans.
- Ability to write reports, training material and correspondence in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to travel to various locations in a timely and efficient manner
- Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
- May be required to possess and be able to maintain a valid Province of Ontario Class “G” Driver's License.
