      The University of the Western Cape seeks a suitably qualified, energetic and experienced individual, to join the Finance Department as Coordinator: Treasury reporting to the Financial Accountant.

      Purpose of the Job: Student receipts and journals, student banking details, student payments and general support of treasury functions.

      List of main tasks:

      • Validate and load student banking details for payments to students, Prepare and load student journals for approval
      • Provide support for unscheduled and scheduled student payments
      • Assist with payments and enquiries in respect of students, 3rd parties and landlords
      • Create and maintain a data base of deposits / receipts
      • Follow up with monthly unallocated receipts internally and externally
      • Create and maintain Treasury standard operating procedures for training and continuity
      • Provide support in Uploading and Downloading of Student Banking Accounts,
      • Support for all treasury functions
      • Provide audit support
      • Reconciliation of account

      Qualifications and experience:

      • Candidates require a B.Com Accounting degree or equivalent
      • 2 - 5 years’ experience in a Treasury environment
      • Experience in a tertiary education institution or treasury environment will be an advantage

      Skills and Competencies:

      • Be able to work independently as well as within a team, take initiative, be reliable, accurate and work under pressure
      • Commitment to solving problems rather than merely following procedures
      • Good written and verbal communication skills, including the use of electronic media
      • Accuracy and attention to detail
      • Honesty, integrity and trustworthiness

      The candidate should be computer literate in:

      • Ms Word (including creating templates, etc.)
      • Ms Excel (not negotiable) using lookups and pivot tables
      • E-mail and scheduling application
      • Experience with accounting systems or any other ERP system will be a distinct advantage
