- Primarily responsible for querying, analyzing, auditing, and presenting data reports on a variety of AV performance metrics to support AV Testing, Global Operations and executive leadership group.
- Support metrics storytelling, dashboard creation, and performance deep dives—translating complex trends into executive-ready insights.
- Develop and maintain clean, production-ready datasets that power reporting in Looker, Redash, and other visualization tools.
- Design and implement scalable data pipelines using tools like dbt, Python, and AWS to ingest, transform, and structure AV operational data.
- Apply best practices in data modeling, testing, version control, and documentation to ensure reproducibility and scalability.
- Perform comprehensive quality assurance, ensuring that data meet specifications and reports remain accurate and reliable even in the face of process and tool changes.
- Partner with Operations and Testing stakeholders to maintain a rapid and iterative feedback loop for metrics creation and monitoring.
- Proactively communicate insights and contribute to leadership reviews and team presentations.
- Collaborate with colleagues across different time zones and countries, which may require additional and/or non-standard working hours during any given week to work on projects or attend required meetings.

- Other duties as assigned including travel to other Motional sites
- Bachelor's or higher degree in a quantitative field -- including but not limited to Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, or equivalent knowledge and work experience.
- 2+ years of experience working in analytics engineering, data analytics, data science, or a similar technical role.
- Proficient in SQL.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills and exemplary attention to detail.
- Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and creative problem solving skills.
- Proficient in SQL, with the ability to write optimized and maintainable queries.
- Experience with business intelligence methodologies and a strong understanding of statistics.
- Entry to moderate level experience with Linux and scripting languages (E.g: Bash/Shell, Python).
- Entry to moderate level experience with software engineering concepts, including requirements analysis, source control, build processes, design reviews.
- Experience using issue tracking and configuration management tools (E.g: Atlassian Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket, Git).
- Familiarity with Jira (or similar issue tracking systems)
The Associate Data Analyst is a critical contributor within Global Operations, working at the intersection of data engineering and business analytics. You’ll design scalable data models, build production-ready pipelines, and develop self-service analytics that enable fast, informed decision-making across the organization. You’ll partner closely with AV test, systems, safety, and software teams to ensure data is not just accurate, but actionable. Your insights will directly influence operational execution, testing efficiency, and the performance of our autonomous vehicle technology—providing operational leadership and executives with a clear view into the analytical performance of our self-driving product.

Travel Requirements (~10%): expected to travel for about 1 week each quarter visiting all of our testing sites, but also domestically as needed for the business.
