      We work a hybrid model of 3 days (Tues/Wed/Thurs) in the office and 2 days (Mon/Fri) work from home; this position is located in our Minneapolis Metro headquarters.

      The Copywriter will work as part of an in-house Customer Engagement Group (CEG) Creative Services Team. The individual will be responsible for writing brand specific messaging for email, direct mail, mobile apps, online ads and banners, and other short form digital content such as pdfs or video scripts. In this role you will work under the guidance of the Managing Creative Director and collaborate with senior copywriters, art directors, content strategists, and the account team to create engaging content that drives customer engagement.

      Responsibilities:

      • Writes clear, persuasive, original copy for a variety of short form direct mail and digital marketing communications including mobile apps that often have tight character limits.
      • Ensures that messaging is consistent across all platforms and effectively drives engagement.
      • Tailors content for B2B and B2C audiences. A large portion of work must be written to 4th--6th grade reading levels for adult audiences.
      • Helps shape the brand voice and ensures consistency across all written content.
      • Develops and maintains client brand guidelines and copy standards.
      • Assists in brainstorming ideas and designing content flow and structure with senior copywriters, art directors, and content strategists to develop a variety of marketing materials.
      • Curates content sources and uses footnotes and citations throughout content with care.
      • Follows through on large volumes of client requests for annual minor updates to content.
      • Proofreads copy drafts, presentations, graphic layouts and online content to edit spelling, grammar, usage, formatting and consistency errors, as well as errors of content, style and client brand guidelines.
      • Offers diplomatic rationale in editing and proofreading as needed.
      • Participates in client discovery sessions and other meetings as needed.
      • Assists in the creation and maintenance of working systems to manage the writing process and improve proofreading effectiveness.
      • Supports the senior copywriting team on various projects and initiatives as needed.
      • Learns from feedback and continuously improves writing skills.
      • Follows the CEG creative process to ensure timely delivery of projects.

      Required Skills:

      • Professional communication skills; oral and written
      • Ability to write clear, on-target copy for a variety of clients
      • Comfortable with Excel, familiar with content management systems
      • Good time management
      • Attention to detail in both writing and managing project status updates
      • Embraces processes that help keep the team on track
      • Ability to present concepts and ideas and provide rationale
      • Ability to accept creative criticism with aplomb
      • Content development, copywriting, and copy editing
      • Familiar with or willing to learn about readability standards and techniques for taking complex, high level content and turning it into something that adult 4th--6th grade reading level audiences will understand
      • Strong AP Style writing, yet willing to adapt to client requirements as needed
      • Open to learning approaches to unique industry constraints
      • Ability to repurpose content across a variety of mediums, allowing the copy to match the medium and target audience
      • Knowledge of trends in advertising, PR, and popular culture
      • Solid organizational and research skills
      • Exceptional proofing skills, attention to detail, organization and follow-through
      • Works well under pressure and within tight deadlines
      • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
      • Comfortable with fast pace and continuous change

      Qualifications and Experience:

      • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, English, Marketing, Advertising or Communications
      • 3+ years working in an in-house marketing or creative department or similar; agency experience is a plus
      • Portfolio containing finished professional pieces as well as conceptual work
      • Excellent collaboration and problem-solving skills
      • Proficient in Microsoft Office
      • Experience working within project management tools for proofing and editing creative content and communications a plus; BI WORLWIDE uses Smartsheet
      • Working knowledge of design processes, Adobe creative software, digital and print design specifications and principles
      • Strong marketing and/or communications experience; the ability to plan and implement a strategic, integrated marketing approach is a plus

      Salary Transparency

      Base Salary Range: $70,000 to $80,000. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant's background, experience, and skills.
