      Title of Position - Copywriter

      Direct Oversight - Marketing & Editorial Director, Communications

      Summary of Position

      • This position is responsible for writing and editing content to be used across multiple platforms for marketing and storytelling at Gateway Church. Please submit a variety of writing samples with your application.

      Principle Responsibilities

      • Prepare weekly sermon notes for weekend services. Support for Pastor Robert series as well as all guest speaker notes.
      • Weekend services on call support for weekend services support items.
      • Sermon notes support (proofing) for Gateway Conference and all other conference speaking notes proofing support for Pastor Robert, Pastor James, and Pastor Bridgette.
      • Edit content for gatewaypeople.com and email communication.
      • Manage content on gatewaypeople.com.
      • Screen story leads; write inspiring stories for weekend services stories, gatewaypeople.com, and social.
      • Brainstorm creative ideas to market events and ministry at Gateway Church.
      • Manage template copy in Brandfolder and assist campuses with PCO events process as needed.
      • Review and approve assets.

      Required Skills and Job Complexity

      a) Unique Skills and Knowledge

      • Strong writing and editing skills.
      • Knowledge of grammar and The Chicago Manual of Style.
      • Ability to communicate the heart of a ministry or event.
      • Storytelling (including interviewing and writing stories).
      • Creativity to brainstorm new ideas and marketing campaigns.

      b) Problem Solving and Decision Making

      • Ability to make decisions that reflect Gateway’s brand and culture without oversight.
      • Ability to discern when to bring a problem (with a potential solution) to the oversight for intervention.

      c) Relational Connections

      • Working with the creative team to come up with ideas.
      • Working with ministries to make copy the best possible.
      • Gathering testimonies from Gateway staff and congregants.

      d) Preferred Education/Certification(s)

      • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, or Communications.

      e) Physical Capabilities

      • Working at a computer.
