What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct high-impact scientific research on coral reefs and lead the production of scientific publications
- Collaborate with global scientists to create impactful reports and disseminate findings to various stakeholders
- Lead coral taxonomy surveys and assist in planning and executing marine expeditions
- Provide briefings and written materials to support conservation policy initiatives
- Work with communications and education teams to develop and disseminate educational products
What is Required (Qualifications):
- PhD in Marine Biology or a related field from an R1 research university, strongly preferred
- Minimum of 10+ years of professional work experience in marine science and conservation
- Extensive publication record with at least 30 scientific publications, including five first-authored
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time for expeditions and research
- Advanced scuba certification with at least 500 dives
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Expertise in coral reef ecology and conservation
- Experience with underwater visual observation methods and analysis
- Familiarity with deep-sea research and eDNA collections
- Background in managing and analyzing large datasets
- Experience collaborating with local communities in conservation efforts
