      Job description:

      Position Summary


      Reporting to the Senior Manager, Finance, and working under the supervision of the Supervisor, Corporate Accounting, the Corporate Accountant is responsible for corporate accounting and analysis for First Quantum Minerals Limited (FQML) and its subsidiaries.

      Responsibilities

      Responsible for monthly accounting and reporting process for FQML.

      • Record banking entries, including liaising with the Treasury department on debt and intercompany transactions.
      • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for bank accounts.
      • Revalue foreign currency intercompany loan balances.
      • Prepare month-end journal entries and account analysis.
      • Prepare senior notes and debt facilities entries.
      • Follow up with other departments and various mine/exploration site staff to gather data for journal entries and account analysis.
      • Prepare various month-end schedules, analysis and adhoc reports as required to support month-end and quarter-end reporting.
      • Complete Hyperion analysis to clear validations and allow for entity promotion
      • Liaise with Tax to record quarterly guarantee fees payable to sites.
      • All other duties as assigned.

      Responsible for maintaining the accounts of FQML’s subsidiary legal entities in Pronto and reporting monthly results to the Group Finance team in Hyperion.

      • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
      • Prepare journal entries with appropriate documentation.
      • Prepare monthly intercompany invoices and analysis of related intercompany accounts.
      • Report month-end results in Hyperion for Group Finance.
      • Prepare annual legal entity financial statements for tax purposes.
      • Prepare monthly Exploration Reporting for the explorations Group.
      • Prepare cash call reports for a few of the smaller subsidiaries within the group
      • Prepare Statistics Canada reports in a timely manner with proper support schedules. Document existing processes, and where applicable, identify areas of improvement.

      Forecast/Budget & Other:

      • Support the quarterly forecast and budgeting process for FQML.
      • Consult with Treasury for upcoming debt transactions such as principal and interest payments.
      • Complete analysis in Hyperion for debt interest expense.
      • Revalue foreign intercompany loans for entities completing forecast and budget.
      • Review Canada employees' headcount with Accounts Payable and Payroll Analyst.
      • Support the Accounting Supervisor with reviewing payment batches for coding and accuracy before posting

      Qualifications

      • Qualified CPA or working towards completing the designation.
      • Good understanding of accounting principles and controls.
      • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including being able to manipulate and present data in Excel.
      • Must have at least 3+ years of experience working in a similar role.
      • Must have exposure to accounting (ERP) systems. Exposure to Pronto and Hyperion Financial Management Systems would be an asset.
      • Must be able to organize and prioritize work, and meet tight deadlines, without compromising on attention to detail.
      • Must be able to apply critical thinking and analysis to work.
      • Have excellent verbal and written communication and documentation skills.
      • Good interpersonal skills and be professional and courteous.
      • Ability to adapt to a changing work environment.
