      Hourly base pay rate is $19.18 - $28.80/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.

      Job Description

      The executive communications and public affairs team at Cox Enterprises provides strategic communications counsel to executives, division leadership and operational business partners.

      The executive communications and public affairs summer intern will work closely with the senior manager, executive communications and manager, PR & public affairs to support impactful programs to drive Cox Enterprises’ corporate reputation. Whether assisting with campaigns or drafting messaging, this role will help position our company as an employer of choice and premier investment partner.

      We’re looking for a collaborative team player who is ready to roll up their sleeves and support the team. Don’t be afraid to color outside the lines. We’re looking to test out new ideas, and we want your input to improve our work and impact.

      Responsibilities:

      • Support executive communications programs, events and presentations.
      • Support external communications campaigns that align with our strategic initiatives, including Cox investments in industries like cleantech, healthcare, digital media and public sector.
      • Assist with daily tasks such as executing campaign plans; coordinating with communications partners; drafting materials like messaging, press releases and other materials that convey a clear message and resonate in meaningful ways.
      • Assist with fact-checking, researching and project management.
      • Support execution of Cox’s local Atlanta/Georgia public affairs strategy to enhance the company’s reputation, work with partner and community organizations and support related campaigns.
      • Partner with broader corporate communications team to support a variety of projects, as needed. Track timelines, vendors and deliverables to ensure projects run on schedule.
      • The intern will also get the opportunity to be mentored by team members and participate in meetings, brainstorms and strategy sessions.

      • Competency in MS Office (especially PowerPoint, Word and Excel).

      Requirements:

      • Currently enrolled in a related degree program such as public relations, journalism, English, marketing, corporate communications and/or related field.
      • Internship positions are located in Atlanta, Ga.; Cox Enterprises does not provide a housing allowance.
      • Efficient executor and team player.
      • Able to manage time and juggle multiple priorities to execute high-quality deliverables.

      *Note: Intern/Co-Op sessions are considered temporary employment. No full-time employment commitments are made. However, depending on our business needs, some interns may be considered for a full-time position following the conclusion of the session conditioned upon the intern graduating from their academic program and being available to commence full-time employment at a specified time.
