      Salary Range: $125,453 - $162,351

      Location: Ada, MI

      *Note: This position is a hybrid remote/office role, and you must be able to report in-person to Ada on Tuesdays and Wednesdays as part of our collaboration days*

      What do we need:

      We are looking to hire a Corporate Counsel I to join our legal team. As Corporate Counsel I, you will be a member of the Commercial Transactions team responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various commercial agreements and providing legal advice to internal business clients both domestically and globally. You will work closely with internal and external parties to ensure compliance with legal standards and mitigate potential risks.

      How you would contribute to the role:

      You will effectively draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including, but not limited to, purchase agreements, supply agreements, distribution agreements, professional service agreements, technology agreements, and confidentiality agreements. You will work with various teams, including procurement, marketing, sales, IT, and others on business and commercial issues providing support for enterprise, regional, and affiliate contractual matters. You will also work to stay current on legislative, administrative, and judicial decisions and trends impacting the enterprise. You will engage with domestic and global business teams to formulate appropriate legal strategies providing support for enterprise and affiliate growth by managing legal risk to acceptable business levels while seeking competitive advantages.

      Additionally, you may (i) manage outside counsel activities and budgets; (ii) develop, review, or implement company-wide and/or functionally specific training programs; and (iii) coordinate other lawyers, paraprofessionals, and administrative professionals domestically and in various markets. You will need to develop good business knowledge of Amway’s business model and be able to spot issues across various functional areas.

      Required qualifications:

      • Juris Doctor Law Degree
      • Ability to practice law in Michigan with admission to the bar in Michigan is preferred
      • Minimum 2 years related experience in international and comparative law, transactional, and M&A

      Skills to be successful in the role:

      • Demonstrate a strong understanding of contract law and commercial agreements of various complexity
      • Ability to learn and distill complex and emerging issues
      • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills
      • Ability to develop and advocate legal risk and risk mitigation strategies within the framework of business plans and priorities
      • Developed knowledge of legal environment and trends in area of functional responsibility specific to Amway and the ability to apply emerging law to business issues
      • Effectively collaborate internally and externally with peers, management, and outside counsel
      • Demonstrate business acumen identifying key internal and external drivers that affect the business, including political and industry trends
      • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple concurrent tasks, projects, and business needs and meet multiple deadlines

      What’s Special about this Team:

      The Commercial Transactions Team is lean but effective. You will be part of a three-attorney team supported by an experienced paralegal and Legal Operations team as well as functional experts in other legal practice areas as needed. You will have exposure to a wide range of local and global commercial transactions issues. Currently, the Commercial Transactions team works on a hybrid basis, with two in-person days per week highly encouraged to ignite teamwork and cross functional collaboration.
