Summary
SRP is seeking an experienced transactional attorney to join our in-house legal team. This attorney will provide practical and sound legal counsel and support that shapes strategic decision-making in the ever-changing utility industry.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience in structuring, negotiating, and drafting contracts and other legal documents, and advising clients from multiple business sectors in connection with complex commercial transactions.
What You'll Do
• Negotiate, draft, and review a variety of commercial contracts, including power purchase agreements, purchase and sale agreements, procurement contracts, credit agreements, consulting agreements, and non-disclosure agreements.
• Provide legal support in a wide range of areas such as corporate governance, tax, project development, finance, regulatory compliance, legislative matters, and the performance of statutory processes and responsibilities.
• Provide strategic legal advice and counsel to internal clients and executive management on various commercial, financial, and other transactional activities.
• Research, analyze and advise clients with respect to the interpretation and enforcement of contracts and the management of contractual risk.
• Assist in the preparation and interpretation of business policies and procedures.
• Collaborate closely with legal colleagues on the analysis and resolution of novel legal issues.The duties included above provide an overview of potential responsibilities and do not reflect an exhaustive list.
What It Takes To Succeed
Successful candidate must be admitted to practice law, and in good standing, in the current state of practice; if not Arizona, able to gain admission in Arizona within 6 months of employment.
Experience
• Minimum of five years of relevant transactional legal experience, gained in-house or in a law firm.
• Experience in energy transactions, including renewable energy project development and financing, would be highly valued.Education
Completion of a Juris Doctor (JD ) from an accredited institution.Hybrid Workplace
SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
