      Description

      The Corporate Director of Employment Relations at Emory Healthcare (EHC) is a key leadership role on the People Team responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of strategic initiatives, policies and procedures to promote a positive and compliant workplace culture.

      This role is pivotal in developing and implementing strategies that foster a positive workplace culture by ensuring that all employees feel valued and heard while ensuring compliance with legal standards. This leader will develop strategic partnerships across the enterprise by collaborating with internal stakeholders, including senior leaders and HR Business Partners, to strengthen our workforce, mitigate risk, and enhance the employee experience.

      Key Responsibilities:

      • Develop and execute a comprehensive employment practices strategy aligned with Emory Healthcare's mission and goals.
      • Build and develop team members to execute best-in-class employee relations services. Provide leadership and guidance to the employment practices team, ensuring alignment with Emory Healthcare's values and priorities.
      • Lead and conduct complex investigations into employee complaints and disputes, ensuring thorough documentation and adherence to legal standards. Acts as a trusted resource for complex employee relations matters, ensuring thorough documentation and adherence to legal standards. Collaborate with HR business partners and legal counsel as necessary.
      • Collaborate with senior leadership to address performance management issues, disciplinary actions, and terminations in compliance with legal requirements.
      • Advise senior leadership on trends and best practices in employee relations, ensuring proactive management of potential issues. Monitor and analyze employee relations metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement; seek feedback and listen to leader/client needs.
      • Develop and deliver training programs aimed at enhancing leadership skills in employee relations and compliance. Monitor employee engagement and satisfaction, developing initiatives to address arising concerns and improve workplace morale.
      • Foster continuous learning among HR team members and EHC management regarding employment practices.
      • Utilize HR analytics to monitor key employment practice metrics and trends. Generate reports providing data-driven recommendations to senior leadership.
      • Manage relationships with internal/external legal counsel and regulatory agencies.

      Minimum Qualifications:

      Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required. Juris Doctor (JD) or Master's degree highly preferred. Relevant certification (e.g., SPHR, SHRM-SCP) preferred.

      Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in human resources or related experience with a focus on employee relations, labor relations or employment practices.

      • Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including but not limited to EEO, ADA, FMLA, and Title VII.
      • Demonstrated growth mindset, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
      • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a strong ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
      • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex information and provide actionable insights.
      • Proven leadership ability to work effectively with diverse teams and drive change within an organization. Experience in managing employee relations in a large, complex organization.
