      Business Function

      Critical to the EQ UK Shareholder Services business and the success and ongoing growth of the corporate governance advisory business, is the delivery of corporate governance and ESG advisory services to our clients. This is a new role to support our expanding team, with a primary responsibility to provide research and analytical support to the Corporate Governance and Company Secretarial teams.

      EQ is a leading provider of progressive proxy solicitation and contemporary corporate governance advisory services. Our team supports clients undergoing events such as AGMs, EGMs and M&As, which demand optimised shareholder approval.

      We also provide company secretarial and corporate governance services to quoted and unquoted companies seeking to operate UK governance standards. Our team helps companies establish and maintain best practice corporate governance policies and systems. The team assists Main Market and AIM companies with their ongoing corporate governance requirements, companies planning to float or perform an IPO and complex private groups.

      Core Duties/Responsibilities

      Corporate Governance and ESG Research

      • Support the maintenance of a regular internal ESG, regulatory and corporate governance knowledge framework;

      • Provide analysis of best practice on key ESG themes;

      • Prepare and support externally facing presentations on ESG and corporate governance developments;

      • Support the preparation of regular externally facing ESG and corporate governance updates; and

      • Undertake research projects and analysis to support the Governance and ESG Knowledge Manager.

      Corporate Governance and ESG Advisory

      • Support team members on delivering ESG and corporate governance advisory to clients;

      • Prepare informed research, detailed analyses, reports and briefing materials for clients with references to Corporate Governance codes, policies and prevailing best practice;

      • Provide qualitative and quantitative risk analyses using in house and third-party systems; and

      • Attend client meetings as required.

      Skills, Capabilities and Attributes

      The successful candidate will demonstrate the following experience, skills and behaviours:

      • 1-3 years’ experience working within the advisory/analytical fields, or delivering on corporate governance, executive remuneration or ESG matters, or within investor relations;

      • Have demonstrable knowledge and experience of listed Corporate Governance and compliance matters (especially the UK Corporate Governance Code and the UK Companies Act);

      • Be proactive in keeping up to date with changes and developments in ESG and corporate governance and related industry matters and best practice requirements;

      • Good communication skills; capable of presenting, explaining and discussing research findings internally and externally;

      • Strong organisation and analytical skills;

      • Have good data management and processing skills;

      • A proactive and hands-on attitude alongside the resilience to deliver to tight deadlines;

      • A facilitative approach; enjoys operating as part of a team and proactively builds relationships across the business;

      • The interpersonal skills associated with working within a professional advisory environment; and

      • The personal impact to set the appropriate tone and get to the core of issues quickly.
