      Pay

      Salaried Grades 2, 5, 8 or 9
      $49,600 - $94,200 / year, depending on experience and qualifications. Actual salaries may vary and in some cases may be higher with extensive experience and strong performance.

      Schedule

      1st Shift (Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

      Hybrid-remote with minimum two days on-site per week

      Job Summary

      McKee Foods Corporation is seeking a Corporate Ingredient Specialist to join our organization. The Ingredient Specialist provides governance over development, use and effectiveness of ingredient specifications; and ingredient auditing, quality and verification programs. In this role, you would also provide technical support related to food ingredient quality and safety, and the ingredient supply chain. You would often be involved in problem solving and trouble-shooting that relates to ingredient performance and quality.

      • Ensure specifications exist for all food ingredients and process aids. Maintain specifications, including storage and shelf life information, and critical attributes that will be required on Certificates of Analyses (COAs) provided by ingredient suppliers.
      • Ensure specifications are reconciled among suppliers, and that suppliers are compliant with McKee ingredient requirements, including COA requirements. Recommend a course of action, when compliance is inconsistent.
      • Maintain ingredient-related standards and procedures for the McKee Foods Quality System, GFSI certification, FSMA and other applicable standards.
      • Coordinate ingredient and supplier approval processes and verification activities, and facilitate review and knowledge sharing among other relevant functional groups.
      • Ensure the Ingredient Hazard Analysis and Vulnerability Assessments are complete, up-to-date, and reviewed and updated as appropriate.
      • Function as TraceGains administrator, optimizing use of the platform and providing training for other users where the tool can improve supplier compliance and other efficiencies.
      • Investigate ingredient performance or quality matters, and provide assistance to our manufacturing facilities and other departments as ingredient quality, safety or supply issues arise.
      • Reconcile ingredient-related documents and processes across intersecting documents and processes.
      • Manage special projects, lead meetings, conduct research and participate in various project teams as needed.
      • Function as a technical liaison among departments with differing functions and viewpoints.
      • Perform tests or audits to grow understanding of ingredient function and report results to influence a course of action.

      Required Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s degree in food science, chemistry or related field
      • Experience reading, analyzing, following and/or interpreting scientific journals and technical procedures
      • Ability to translate technical and/or analytical information to individuals of varying technical knowledge
      • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
      • Ability to easily adapt to use of new technical software tools and applications
      • Maintains confidential information
      • Flexibility to travel up to 10% of the time

      Preferred Qualifications

      • 3-5+ years of related experience
      • Experience preparing or managing material specifications
      • Experience reading, interpreting and applying regulatory standards and information
      • Successful experience balancing multiple and competing priorities
      • Excellent communication and problem solving skills
      • Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI)
