      General Summary

      COLSA's corporate cybersecurity team is looking for an intern. In this role you will be:

      Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential functions)

      • Assist in Security Audits: Support the IT security team in conducting regular security audits to identify vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with security policies.
      • Incident Response: Participate in incident response activities, including monitoring and analyzing security alerts, and assisting in the resolution of security incidents.
      • Security Tools: Gain hands-on experience with security tools and technologies used for monitoring, detection, and prevention of security threats.
      • Security Research: Stay updated on the latest security threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices to contribute to proactive security measures.

      Required Experience

      • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
      • Currently enrolled in pursuit of undergraduate degree with a focus in Information Assurance, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or Computer Science.
      • Must be willing and able to relocate to Huntsville, AL at his/her own expense for duration of internship
      • Basic understanding of information security concepts, networking, and operating systems.
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate security issues and solutions.
      • Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address security challenges.
      • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and contribute to a positive team environment.
      • Proactive and eager to learn, with the ability to take initiative in security-related tasks.
      • US Citizenship required. Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check.

      Preferred Qualifications

      • Certifications: Security + and/or Network +
      • Familiarity with common vulnerability scanning tools
      • Familiarity with M365 security settings and tools
      • Experience and/or projects related to cybersecurity
