      As part of the OSU Moritz Corporate Externship program, Abercrombie & Fitch is seeking to place multiple current OSU Moritz law students within its Legal Department to provide students with practical, hands-on experience in a corporate legal department setting. Depending on the number of students in the extern class, each student will likely be assigned primarily to one or two legal team(s)/practice area(s), based on students’ expressed interests, availability, and internal need. Students will perform substantive work, at the direction of and with close oversight from attorneys in the Abercrombie & Fitch legal department. The work performed will support the Company’s global operations (North America, EMEA, APAC), including matters related to its Global Home Office, Distributions Centers, and Stores, to provide students with a broad understanding of the work performed by in-house attorneys at Abercrombie & Fitch.

      This job is located at our Global Home Office in Columbus, Ohio.

      What Will You Be Doing?

      As a corporate extern placed at Abercrombie & Fitch, you will work closely with various attorneys within the Company’s Legal Department. The specific team(s) that you work with during the externship period will be assigned upon placement; however, the teams that you may work with include:

      • Labor & Employment : This team supports legal matters related to the employer-employee relationship, including recruiting and hiring, terminations, discrimination and harassment, wage and hour compliance, immigration, workplace safety, diversity and inclusion, employee training, employment policies, employment-related litigation, EEOC matters, and DOL investigations. This team works closely with the Human Resources, Asset Protection, Health and Safety, and Stores teams.
      • Data Privacy & Digital Operations : This team supports legal matters related to data privacy and cybersecurity, including privacy-related marketing, employee and customer data use, collection and sharing practices, payments compliance, privacy policies, and potential data compromises and breaches. This team works closely with members of the Marketing, Data Analytics, Digital & Technology, Asset Protection, and Human Resources teams.
      • Retail Operations : This team supports legal matters related to global pricing and promotions, charitable contributions/sponsorships/campaigns, marketing and social media compliance, product regulatory/disclosure/labeling compliance, product safety, unfair and deceptive trade practice compliance, website terms and conditions, return policies, and the Company’s global environmental/waste/packaging and other sustainability efforts and compliance. This team works closely with members of the Marketing, Product Regulatory, Store/DTC Operations, Trade, Tax, Sourcing, Sustainability, and other global corporate teams.
      • Contracts : This team advises the Company on a multitude of commercial transactions through reviewing, drafting, negotiating, and advising on various types of contracts including technology/IT, marketing/advertising/social media promotion, supply chain and distribution, manufacturing, consulting services, staff augmentation services, and many others. Additionally, this team supports the Company’s global partnerships by advising on all joint ventures, franchises, licensing partnership, wholesale/distribution agreements, and all other corporate development initiatives. This team works closely with the Sourcing, Procurement, Corporate Development, Corporate Strategy, IT/Technology, and other Global Home Office teams.

      What Do You Need To Bring?

      • Must be a 2L or 3L student as of Spring 2024 semester;
      • Must have transportation to commute to our New Albany, Ohio Global Home Office for all externship shifts (all externship hours to be performed in person);
      • Relationship builder and team player who thrives in a highly collaborative environment with diverse partners;
