- Develop and execute capital and expensed projects.
- Solicit detailed stakeholder design criteria and translates same into actionable technical designs, plans, and scope elements to ensure achievement of project objectives.
- Consistently apply technical standards, engineering best practices, project management processes, and project management tools, and champion the use of the same with facility-level engineering teams.
- Manage onsite contractor activities, ensuring consistent enforcement of regulatory, corporate and plant policies such as safety, ethics, environmental, etc.
- Provide an active onsite resource for project commissioning, startup, and optimization.
- 4-year engineering or engineering technology degree and 3+ years of industrial and/or engineering experience related to project management OR 5 years equivalent experience.
- 2+ years as a Project Engineer.
- Must have demonstrated proficiency in project management, including but not limited to development of designs and specifications, scheduling, estimating, installation, and project administration.
- Possess strong knowledge of the design of mechanical systems in an industrial environment including power transmission, piping systems, valves, and general machinery.

Shaw Industries is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Enterprise Utilities Team. This team provides engineering support for the corporation’s manufacturing, distribution, sales, and administrative facilities. Although its primary base is in Dalton, GA, CE is deployed on projects across the enterprise.
This position is primarily responsible and accountable for project development, design, and execution, with a secondary focus on technical support for manufacturing facilities. This position is responsible for collecting design criteria, preparing detailed schedules, preparing technical specifications, developing engineering designs, assembling project estimates, creating engineered drawings, and utilizing project management tools to ensure projects meet safety, quality, schedule, performance, and budget requirements.
