Job Description

- Assists in the promotion of Corps growth goals and plans as well as Army programs and services in the community.
- Assists in the planning, developing, and leading of specific youth ministries programs; leads or assists with regular meetings for Corps Cadets, Y.P.L., Adventure Corps, and Junior Legion; prepares and coordinates or assists with production of Christian program materials and newsletters; assists in Sunday School teacher development.
- Assists in coordinating Adult Ministries Programs and actively participates in leading the same.
- Participate in the League of Mercy Program by visiting Corps members and the general public who are sick or elderly and in need of special attention.
- Makes arrangements for disbursement of donated goods; assists in seasonal projects such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, League of Mercy, etc.; coordinates details associated with annual Christmas Programs including the Angel Tree, Toy Shop, etc.; recruits and schedules volunteers and provides required materials.
- Coordinates arrangements for summer camp programs; schedules transportation and prepares parent notifications.
- Serves as an outreach worker responsible for coordinating arrangements for major events such as Vacation Bible School.
- Assists in the planning and conducting of Sunday and mid-week services; coordinates visitation of first-time visitors to Sunday meetings and other activities; visits regular members and absentees; serves on call to visit people in emerging/crisis situations at the discretion of the Corps Officer.
- Recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers for Corps programs.
- Serve as lead worker to Corps staff and volunteers; instruct staff/volunteer in the proper methods and procedures for performing work; monitors work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy and completeness; notifies Corps Officer of any personnel or operational problems ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Drives Salvation Army vehicle and transports Corps members to/from Corps programs; operates vehicles in compliance with established policies and procedures; ensures vehicles are properly serviced, maintained, and repaired.
- High school diploma or G.E.D, and
- Two years’ experience participating in ministerial work preferred, or
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, and
- A follower of the Christian faith, with Salvationists in good standing preferred.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language effectively. Ability to operate various general office equipment including a telephone, typewriter, computer, and adding machine. Ability to drive a vehicle safely and in accordance with all laws, regulations, and policies. Duties are usually performed by a combination of sitting, standing, walking, and/or driving a vehicle. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time. Work is usually performed in a normal office environment with some exposure to outdoor temperatures
and driving a vehicle in moderate to heavy traffic.
