Ensure the safety of inmates and corrections staff. Supervise assigned personnel, assist in preparing shift schedules, process hiring, perform training, issue discipline, terminations, approve overtime, provide recommendations on improvements to operations, and other duties as assigned. Be instrumental with formulation and implementation of corrections policies and procedures. Maintain complete inventory of all equipment and supplies and coordinate and maintain repairs on equipment when needed. Maintain accurate and up to date records of operations, inmates housed and disposition. Initiate and direct division meetings. Supervise the operation s of the corrections facility with an inmate population up to 75 plus inmates. Supervise release dates of all inmates. Is in charge of all corrections division and operation in the absence of the Lt. of Corrections.
Requirements
Must possess equivalent requirements as a Corrections Officer, possess a High School Diploma or equivalent, some co llege preferred. Current DPSST Certification in Corrections and at least two years law enforcement experience or equivalent preferred. Requires thorough knowledge of applicable Federal, Tribal, State and Local Laws. Must possess competent communications skills including oral, written, listening and conflict resolution. Working knowledge of jail and detention facility operations, practices and requirements. Administrative abilities may be up to and including: budgeting , planning, personnel development training skills, purchasing and supply procedures. Knowledge of Law Enforcement tactics, including use and care of firearms and other department issued equipment is required. Applicants must have no felony convictions, no misdemeanor arrests or detoxification within two years preceding the application. All applicants must pass a pre -employment drug screen, pass a full background check, be 21 years or older and have a valid Oregon driver’s l icense. W ill be subject to an in-depth background, reference, character and financial investigation are required per 101-630 (Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act). Must submit to a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid Oregon Driver's License.
