Job Description

- Conduct periodic resistivity and potential surveys on pipelines, compressor stations and storage field facilities to determine corrosive areas and record performance of cathodic protection systems
- Check rectifiers and magnesium anode installations and determine operating efficiency
- Assists in analyzing trouble areas and recommend solutions
- Install interference bonds in cooperation with other companies
- Assists in conducting current requirement tests for new ground bed installations
- Locate suitable installation; maintain records of operation and maintenance of cathodic protection equipment
- Ensure landowners are contacted relative to new installations
- Direct installation of magnesium anode ground beds, impressed current ground beds and rectifier installations
- Advise Team Leader of needed repairs in corrosion test stations, bonding stations and ground bed repair
- Directs maintenance of cathodic protection equipment such as painting of rectifiers and corrosion test stations
- Assists instructing employees in leakage and corrosion control procedures
- Insure leakage inspection, and assures leakage schedules are being maintained
- Assist leakage inspection personnel and Team Leader in compiling and maintaining their leakage records
- Compiles leakage information required by DOT
- Checks all leakage detection equipment and affects repairs when necessary
- Conducts close interval surveys
- Detects and conducts the repair of shorted road casings
- Identify corrosion issues to be addressed by Engineering Services
- Bi-monthly: Performs various duties such as: checks working conditions of rectifier installations, and all critical bonds. Quarterly: compiles area leakage summary. Annually: checks electrolysis bonds and conducts potential surveys on protected high-pressure lines
- Using PC and/or hand held device, completes Work Orders, enters data into Job Plans, creates new Work Orders, etc. in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System - SAP or Work Manager)
- Other tasks as required.
- Ability to read, comprehend and apply DOT codes and ANSI / ASME standards as appropriate.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good organizational skill a must.
- Must have valid driver's license
- Able to handle multiple tasks for different people.
- Able to complete work timely with little supervision.
- Must demonstrate basic personal computer (PC) skills, and must have the ability to obtain basic skills in using a handheld computer.
- Must be able to obtain basic skills in using CMMS (SAP and Work Manager).
- Willing to attend Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced Underground Short Courses annually and subsequently obtain NACE certification.
- Have and maintain a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record
- Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, to include drug and alcohol testing
- Be subject to call out 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and work extended days and/or weeks for emergency response purposes
- Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings, or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home
- Be subject to working conditions which include adverse weather and temperatures, heavy lifting (50 pounds), and cramped conditions

*Successful candidates must live within 30 miles or 45 minutes of the Cameron, WV reporting location to comply with emergency response requirements.
