The Ohio State Cosmetology and Barber Board is responsible for regulating the Cosmetology and Barbering industries in the State of Ohio.

      What You’ll Do:

      An Inspector begins and ends their workday at their residence. The inspector travels daily using a state-issued vehicle within their assigned area to conduct routine, follow-up and complaint-based inspections for infection control, safety, and licensing compliance of individuals and businesses.

      In this role, you will be responsible for:

      • Completing inspections of businesses and individuals licensed by the Board.
      • Composing/preparing and emailing completed reports of inspection findings to licensees.
      • Using state-issued laptop equipment to compete inspections.
      • Testifying in 119/adjudication hearings when requested.
      • Maintaining assigned state-owned vehicle, reporting needed maintenance and submitting gas purchases.
      • Communicating with Board licensees and the general public.
      • The selected candidate must live in Franklin County.

      • Current licensure as a Cosmetologist per chapter 4713 of the Ohio Revised Code or current licensure as a Barber per chapter 4709 of the Ohio Revised Code.
      • Valid driver’s license.

      Preferred Qualifications for this Position:

      • Minimum of 24 months experience
      • Knowledge of safety, sanitation, and infection control; public relations
      • Ability to provide instructions and information to owner and/or manager
      • Knowledge of state laws, rules, policies &/or procedures applicable to inquiries
