      Job Title: Cost Accountant

      Location: Milwaukee, WI or Cedar Rapids, IA (with travel to MN, WI, and IA)

      Travel Requirement: Up to 15% (typically mid-month)

      Placement Type: Permanent

      Salary Range: $75,000 – $90,000 annually


      About the Role

      We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our client's growing team. This role is essential in managing cost accounting operations, supporting financial planning, and ensuring accurate reporting of inventory and capital assets. You’ll collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams to deliver insights and support strategic decisions.


      Key Responsibilities

      • Assist in the monthly close process and manage daily cost accounting operations.
      • Prepare and analyze monthly reports on cost of goods sold (COGS) and operational expenses, offering insights and risk mitigation strategies.
      • Maintain oversight of inventory and fixed assets, including capital expenditure justifications.
      • Contribute to the annual budget and quarterly forecasts.
      • Manage sales/use tax filings and prepare annual 1099 forms.
      • Support the annual inventory audit process.

      Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
      • CPA or MBA (preferred)
      • 1–3 years of experience in cost accounting or financial management
      • Background in manufacturing or steel industry strongly preferred
      • Experience with large ERP systems

      Work Environment

      • Flexible location: Based in Milwaukee, WI or Cedar Rapids, IA
      • Reports to the Milwaukee-based manager
      • Travel required to company sites in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa
