      Job Summary
      Act as primary counsel for legal matters relating to privacy, cybersecurity, and information governance matters. Handle domestic and international contracts, provide general legal advice, and work independently on assigned projects and provide work direction to legal support staff. This position requires completion of a non-compete agreement.

      Key Responsibilities
      • Under the direction of Global Director, Data Privacy, carries out legal activities of the organization, including support of operations.
      • Handles legal matters related to privacy, cyber security, and information governance.
      • Prepares and reviews various documents and legal instruments, including external privacy notices, privacy policies, contracts, data processing agreements, and records of processing activities.
      • Assists in the review and completion of privacy impact assessments, privacy risk assessments, and vendor audits.
      • Assists in overall privacy compliance, including developing training materials, drafting templates and privacy controls, participating in privacy-by-design, and collaborating with information governance team members.
      • Manages incident investigations and response.
      • Reviews legal publications and pending legislation and advises management of changes that impact the company. Monitors emerging legal trends and rulings.
      • Develops and maintains comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of a particular content area, with broad reach in several other specialties.
      • Interprets laws, rulings, and regulations for organization and ensures the organization is compliant with relevant laws, regulations, and contractual obligations.
      • Conducts research and analysis of specific legal questions and scenarios and prepares a response.
      • May provide guidance to legal assistants that includes coaching, mentoring, inspiring to grow and quality of work.
      • Handles other legal matters as assigned by the Global Director, Data Privacy.

      Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
      • Bachelor’s degree. Law Degree from an accredited law school, admission to the bar.
      • Minimum of five (5) years of experience working in a law firm or corporate legal department.
      • Detailed knowledge of U.S. state privacy laws, as well as PIPEDA, GDPR, and UK GDPR.
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with multiple individuals, including attorneys, senior management, and business associates.
      • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities and client needs.
      • Proven capability of actively participating in and influencing cross-functional teams.
      • Proven negotiation skills.
      • Computer proficiency with strong knowledge and application of Microsoft Word and other legal databases (i.e. LexisNexis).
      • Evidence of ability to analyze, problem-solve and make decisions, including viable alternative options.
      • Practical, business-oriented approach to problem-solving and be able to effectively counsel clients by providing them with clear, concise advice, and creative solutions where necessary, on established timelines to meet their business needs.
      • Professional, reliable, enthusiastic, self-reliant, self-motivated, and demonstrated ability to work well under pressure with all groups while addressing people courageously, directly, and candidly.

      Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
      • At least one (1) CIPP certification (or willingness to obtain within six (6) months of hire).
      • Experience with OneTrust.
      • Ability to work as part of a team and provide legal advice to people at various levels within company.

      Working Conditions
      • Works in a normal office environment, where there is no physical discomfort due to temperature, noise, dust, and the like.
      • This position requires travel up to 30% of the time and ability to adhere to the corporate travel policies and procedures.
