      The Counseling Center at Pepperdine University promotes mental health on campus through direct intervention, outreach/prevention programming, consultation, and training. The postdoc will join the Full Time counseling staff in the provision of those services, and focus on service delivery to either student athletes or the general student body. There will also be an emphasis on group work and the provision of supervision for doctoral students in training. As a staff member of Student Affairs who works closely with students, this person serves as a Christian role model to students. With psychological wellness in place, students are able to fulfill the University's mission. The Counseling Center strengthens students for lives of purpose, service, and leadership.

      Duties

      • Provide therapy for currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students experiencing a wide range of difficulties.
      • Provide consultation to faculty and staff regarding students of concern.
      • Provide supervision for practicum students.
      • Document and maintain client files.
      • Conduct preventative psycho-educational workshops.
      • Attend convocation/chapel on a weekly basis, serve on the Residential Emergency Response Team.
      • Other duties as assigned.
      • Uphold University mission through work performed.

      Skills and Qualifications

      Required: Graduate doctoral degree completed, Internship completed. Verifiable training and experience working with individuals of diverse backgrounds. Commensurate with experience in psychology doctoral program. Proficiency in individual therapy, ability to collaborate with other professionals who serve students. PCs, Windows-based software, and standard MS Office applications.

      Preferred: Experience working at a University Counseling Center, experience working with athletes.

      Qualified individuals should be able to articulate a strong commitment to diversity, and have the ability to work effectively with individuals from different backgrounds.

      This is a Restricted, Nonexempt, 40 hour per week, 10-month position.

      Expected Pay Rate: $24.24 per hour

      The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level.
