  JOB SUMMARY:

  To provide assistance to all elementary students, individually and in groups, which includes, but is not limited to: monitoring cohort data, resolving entry/withdrawal data, and analyzing data to identify students or subgroups with potential high school graduation concerns. Those concerns include math course completion, planning, implementing, and tracking individual high school graduation plans, identifying and resolving barriers to graduation, and facilitating the transition from middle school to high school.

  KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  Assess each student?s needs and develop a comprehensive plan of assistance in collaboration with the student, parent(s)/guardian(s), teachers, and school community partners to identify strategies to remove barriers to graduation.
  
  Utilize early warning indicators to identify elementary students who have academic and social emotional issues and provide training to teachers on support measures that work with identified youth. Work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, staff, and parents to provide student support.
  
  Monitor cohort data, resolve student entry/withdrawal data and system
  error reports for all students Pk-5. Provide and/or submit reports as scheduled and requested.
  
  Develop and implement a middle school transition program to monitor identified 5th graders to help them successfully adapt to the rigor of high school.
  
  Conduct individual and group counseling with students in areas of educational, career, or personal needs and work with students to develop a graduation and career plan to meet academic and post-secondary goals.
  
  Connect individual students and their parents/guardians with community organizations and programs.
  
  Track the progress of individual and subpopulations of students as they progress toward graduation and analyze on-going formative and summative evaluations of program effectiveness.
  
  Monitor school attendance, conduct home visits and hold parent meetings to provide support and information to students and families on strategies, interventions and remediation programs to support student success.
  
  Provide research-based effective interventions, continuously assess effectiveness, monitor student performance and conduct SST and RTI meetings for students assigned to caseload.
  
  Incorporate a personal/social skills program (e.g., character education, motivation, goal-setting, conflict management, etc.) for at-risk students.

  KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  Master's degree in School Counseling from an accredited college or university.
  
  Must possess at least three to five years successful experience working with secondary students and a working knowledge of appropriate strategies for reducing behaviors that create obstacles students graduating from high school.
  
  Ability to communicate effectively with youth and adults; Ability to analyze, develop, implement, and track intervention plans and strategies.
  
  Must possess an understanding of the multiplicity of social services available in the community to support students in graduating from high school.
  
  Comprehensive experience with a variety of responsibilities in public schools or youth services.
  
  Must possess working knowledge of alternative education opportunities in Clayton County and the state of Georgia.
  
  S-5 Certificate in School Counseling from the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.
  
  Valid Georgia driver?s license required.

  Normal office setting. May require travel to off-site locations for school site visits.

  Light duty - On most occasions sitting at a desk or table; intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. Light lifting or carrying 20 lbs. or less.
