      Hennepin County District Court invites qualified applications for a Court Clerk Leadworker I position in Family Court.

      The Court Clerk Leadworker I performs the full scope of clerical work in case processing and courtroom support. This position serves as the first point of contact for troubleshooting problems and is responsible for training court staff, providing work direction, finalizing work assignments, reviewing clerical work for accuracy and compliance, monitoring reports and providing exceptional customer service to the general public, attorneys, judicial staff, and other court stakeholders on a daily basis.

      The work performed by the Court Clerk Leadworker I requires highly advanced technical skills and requires the ability to apply applicable rules and statutes when reviewing case filings, finalizing and disposing of cases, and performing advanced financial transactions.

      This AFSCME-represented position is classified as a Court Clerk Leadworker I. Family Court Administration is located on the 1st floor of the Family Justice Center at 110 South 4th Street, Suite 125, Minneapolis, MN. Typical hours for this position are 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m., but may vary due to business needs. This position is currently working both remotely and in-person, which may change depending on operational need.

      Act as primary technical and procedural resource for District Court and partnering agency staff
      • Act as the first point of contact for complex matters and procedural resource by providing daily support and direction, as well as responding to questions and resolving issues for administrative and judicial staff, other departments, and family justice agencies to ensure consistency, accuracy, and established timelines are met.
      • Work at the public counter, providing intake service for case filings, documents, and in-person requests for court information.
      • Act as liaison to internal and external customers for day-to-day processing of court orders, electronic and paper filings, etc.
      • Initiate cases in the Minnesota Court Information System (MNCIS).
      • Respond to requests for emergency filings, e.g., orders, warrants, etc.
      • Analyze, interpret, compose, and process complex documents and orders.

      Provide training to Court Operations Associates within Family Court
      • Develop training schedules for employees; provide initial and ongoing procedural and court information system training to new and existing staff for both courtroom and office-related functions; write and maintain procedures and training materials for all job assignments.
      • Provide training and leadership as it relates to new technology initiatives, including imaging documents, document security, and working with cases/documents from electronic workflow queues.
      • Perform duties related to processing and training of MNCIS financial transactions, including ringing, balancing, and resolving updating issues.
      • Provide training and support to office staff working on case processing.

      Act as positive role model for staff and provide coaching and mentoring to team members
      • Review new employees' work for accuracy and provide coaching and training as needed; monitor progress of staff training and work performance; provide input to division supervisor for staff evaluations as related to performance achievements and issues.
      • Provide regular feedback to supervisor as to staff behaviors, both positive and negative; make suggestions as to changes in job duties or tasks.

      Monitor the workflow of office to ensure timely case processing and the overall consistency and accuracy of the work product
      • Monitor eFiling and SharePoint workflow queues for case processing efficiencies.
      • Maintain and distribute weekly assignment schedule and make day-to-day independent decisions on necessary adjustments to staff assignments based on coverage needs and workload priorities.
      • Monitor general case processing guidelines, ensuring that procedural/legislative changes are being followed.
      • Maintain statistical data as required.
      • Coordinate, attend, facilitate and take minutes for team and committee meetings.
      Minimum Education and Experience:
      • High school diploma or equivalent.
      • At least six month's experience within the last two years as a Court Operations Associate, Leadworker, or equivalent.
      • If the position will be working remotely, access to reliable internet connection is required.

      Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
      • Extensive working knowledge of current MNCIS case processing, including processing of financials, court procedures and policies related to both the administrative office and courtroom functions, and the ability to apply these as needed.
      • Ability to write job procedures and develop training materials in a clear and concise manner.
      • Ability to effectively handle conflict situations.
      • Ability to adapt technical and procedural training to the various learning styles of staff.
      • Ability to organize workflow and meet deadlines, and plan and coordinate the daily work of other employees who are engaged in a variety of work assignments.
      • Ability to work independently and as a team lead, providing guidance, direction, and motivation for others.
      • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, highly motivated, and establish and maintain positive, effective working relations with others.
      • Demonstrated reliability in attendance and being punctual.
      • Ability to be proactive in anticipating problems and suggesting solutions; a creative thinker.

      Preferred Qualifications:
      • Highly proficient in current Hennepin County District Court Family Division policies and procedures.
      • Ability to independently make decisions in accordance with laws, regulations, and departmental policies and procedures.
      • Excellent communication, listening, multitasking, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
      • Ability to be flexible in changes with workloads, job assignments, new procedures, different computer systems, court trends, and priorities.
      • Proficient in Microsoft Word, SharePoint, Outlook, and EFS.
