      The Supreme Court of Ohio is seeking to fill the position of Court Security Manager in the Office of Court Security. Under the direction of the Director of Court Security, the Court Security Manager will perform the duties of a bailiff as that term is used in R.C. 109.77(D) and OAC 109:2-5-01(D) and also Supervise security officers, manage building security systems, provide security services to Ohio courts, and implement consistent statewide security programs.

      What You'll Do:

      • Supervise security staff members; develop and train security staff and court personnel on physical security and safety issues. Recommend improvements and changes to processes and practices to continuously improve the efficiency and quality of the Court's security function.
      • Carry a firearm and must maintain all qualifications and training as approved by the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission.
      • Respond to medical emergencies and maintain a First Aid/CPR/AED certification per the certifying organization’s requirements.
      • Manage building security systems; develop and implement emergency procedures for building operations. Assist with managing vendor relationships and negotiating contracts for security equipment and security personnel.
      • Inspect, monitor, control, and patrol work sites, and assigned location, property, and/or people.
      • Maintain complete and precise documentation and recorded accounts of process and practices and issues involving security.
      • Responsive to external issues that may have the potential to impact the security of the Court and/or its employees.
      • Develop and deliver court security training in coordination with the Judicial College and with other appropriate agencies, departments, offices as needed.
      • Represents the Office of Court Security at or attends various meetings to exchange information to resolve security concerns & problems; coordinates activities with other agencies, to include local law enforcement departments, emergency management agencies, and other elected officials.
      • Court security is a 24-hour 7-day a week operation and therefore, requires the Court Security Manager to be in an on-call status to respond to and resolve security issues.
      • Perform miscellaneous administrative duties (prepare and submit reports; maintains files; prepare fiscal information for budgeting purposes).

      What we’re looking for:

      • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or equivalent combination of education and experience is required, including a minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in the security field, law enforcement, or the military.
      • Prior experience in operating and maintaining access control and video management systems preferred.
      • Ability to complete state firearms qualification required.
      • OPOTA firearms and first aid/AED-CPR instructor certifications preferred.
      • Demonstrated ability to provide expertise and leadership to the security staff is required as well as proven ability to coordinate complex programs and projects and work effectively with a variety of constituents.
      • The ability to work non-standard hours when required is a necessity. Successful candidate will possess strong writing and general communication skills as well as demonstrated ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness, and creativity in situations involving operational security and the evaluation of information.
      • Experience with establishing / managing judicial security programs is preferred.
      • Ability to travel throughout the state of Ohio as needed is required, as well as, the ability to work non-standard hours due to travel. Overnight stays may be required on occasion.
      • Valid driver’s license is required.

      *Special Requirements: Employee is authorized carry a TASER and/or firearm at all times while on duty and employee is required to maintain TASER and firearms training as approved by the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission. This position is regularly exposed to sensitive information and the employee is expected to keep any such information strictly confidential.

      This is a exempt unclassified position that reports to the Court Security Director. The salary range for this position, which is commensurate with experience, is $74,000 to $82,500.
