      Crane Operator - 3rd Shift

      Who we are looking for:

      We are currently searching for an experienced Crane Operator to be based out of Harvey, IL, located approximately 30 miles south of Downtown Chicago. The job will be 3rd shift (11pm - 7am) M-F, occasional Saturdays. Reporting to the Manufacturing Supervisor, this person will be responsible for transporting coils using cranes inside the building from trailers/rail/transfer cars to storage and from storage to transfer cars, recording coil/storage location data, moving coils from transfer car to slitter storage/slitter mandrel and from slitters to slit coil storage.

      The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.

      What you’ll do:

      • Mark coils with spray paint.
      • Enter information to different computer systems to print coil tags and log materials into plant.
      • Enter coil and location data into computer in crane cab when moving or transferring product.
      • Transport coils from warehouse to transfer cart or vice versa.
      • Supply Slitters and Mills with steel.
      • Load Slitter mandrel with master coils.
      • Unload Slitter recoiler and Bliss Press and transport slits to specified location.
      • Reband coils.
      • Prepare shipping documents.
      • Visually check crane for defects and report defects to supervisor.
      • Available to work overtime when needed.

      What you’ll bring:

      • Experience in industrial manufacturing
      • Crane operator experience
      • Ability to pass the post offer employment process with drug screen

      Within 3 months, you'll:

      • Show progress and/or complete job specific training
      • Be well-versed in Atkore's Business System and the importance of your role to daily operations
      • Gain a basic understanding of required duties and job expectations.
