- Minimum B.S. Engineering (Mechanical, Mechanics, Structures, Bio-Mechanics)
- Master’s degree in engineering highly preferred. (Mechanical, Mechanics, Structures, Bio-Mechanics)
- 5+ years of experience in designing automotive vehicle for crash worthiness.
- 10+ years of experience in designing automotive vehicle for crash worthiness preferred.
- 5+year of experience with FEA and numerical analysis to evaluate for high-speed full vehicle crash worthiness using LS-Dyna Software.
- 10+year of experience with FEA and numerical analysis preferred.
- 5+ years of proficiency is Crash CAE tools (LS-Dyna / Hyperworks/ Primer).
- 10+ years of proficiency is Crash CAE tools preferred. (LS-Dyna / Hyperworks/ Primer).
- Knowledge of restraint system for side impact.
- Knowledge of Team center and Vis mockup.
- Knowledgeable in regulatory and corporate Safety requirements preferred.
- Excellent analytical skills needed to understand factors influencing a crash event and system design actions necessary to achieve optimum crash performance.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal / written)
- Capable of working independently and within a team environment.
- Ability to work with crash barrier personnel to complete full vehicle testing and sled testing when required.
- Responsible for leading the safety design of full vehicle structure, trim, Restraints, and fuel system.
- Use analysis tool to guide component and system design through optimization to meet global regulatory requirements and public domain targets.
- Understanding of the principles related to vehicle component and structural kinematics in various vehicle crash test modes.
- Lead trim and restraints design for Side impact occupant analysis.
- Responsible for side impact latch analysis.
- Responsible to lead the issue tracking and closure through all engineering gateways, from initial program planning through certification as well as lead external homologation activities.
- Responsible for the development of new analytical and physical verification procedures to reduce physical testing and improve CAE model and/or test accuracy.
- Support physical testing, analyze component and full vehicle crash test result, understand gaps to performance requirements and recommend design actions.
- Analyze test data, compare, and correlate to CAE simulations.
- Interface with D&R (Chassis, Body Structure, Interior, Seating, Restraints, etc.) to execute feasible, cost and weight efficient designs.
This position provides an exciting opportunity to be a part of Crash Safety teams in the delivery of global crash safety performance on unibody programs.
In this position...
You will be a part of a cross functional team of Safety CAE and Crash Development Engineers responsible for ensuring unibody vehicle programs comply with applicable crash safety requirements. You will use your skills in collaboration, systems engineering, FMA/design robustness, CAE and safety DV Efficiency to develop world class efficient vehicle architectures for frontal, side, rear and pedestrian impact, roof strength and low speed damageability.
