      POSITION PURPOSE

      Involves the management of all aspects of the Commercial lending function (primarily Commercial Real Estate), including personnel. The incumbent manages a team of lenders and assistants who are active in the identification, marketing, analysis, underwriting, and administration of prospects and existing clients of the bank, primarily focused on commercial real estate development lending and lending to commercial real estate projects in general. This team also provides underwriting and analytical assistance as part of the credit approval process, monitors the existing loan portfolio, and markets for new clients to grow the loan and deposit portfolio. Also actively engages existing and prospective clients to solicit and retain commercial real estate loans and associated deposit accounts.

      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

      • Directs the team in identifying new client prospects and manage existing client relationships.
      • Directs the team in the gathering of appropriate information necessary for the proper underwriting of extensions of credit.
      • Directs the team in obtaining appropriate appraisals, environmental reports, etc. for the evaluation of collateral.
      • Directs the team in analyzing pertinent information and developing appropriate internal loan application documentation used in the approval process.
      • Directs the team in presenting loan requests to the Management Loan Committee.
      • Directs the team in working with attorneys to ensure appropriate loan documentation.
      • Directs the team to assemble complete loan packages with adequate documentation to meet bank management and regulatory guidelines. Must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures associated with lending to various industries.
      • Directs the team in monitoring existing client relationships including construction monitoring, project performance and follow up responsibilities related to any past due accounts within the loan portfolio.
      • Directs the team in working with junior credit analysts to provide necessary training and a proper analytical product.
      • Maintains open lines of communication with bank clients and bank management.
      • Assists the Head of Corporate Banking and Chief Lending Officer on assigned tasks related to the overall management of the department.
      • Administers the daily personnel functions of the team, including compensation and annual reviews.
      • Serves as an outstanding team player in coordinating the day-to-day function of the team with other areas of the bank.
      • Recruits, trains and develops new talent to the team in an effort to profitably grow the business.
      • Effectively manages P&L responsibility for the team to meet and exceed budget objectives.
      • Interacts constantly with prospects and the existing client base to solidify the client/bank relationship.

      QUALIFICATIONS


      Education/Certification: College or university degree in a related subject; ten to twenty years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education, lending, and managerial experience .

      Required Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of financial analysis including, cash flow analysis, balance sheet and income statement analysis, collateral evaluation, loan contracts, and appraisal reports are required.

      Experience Required: Experience with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word are required.

      Skills/Abilities: Good verbal communication skills are required. The ability to concisely communicate strategy and objectives of the group, and to analyze, understand and explain loan transactions to others including Credit Administration and the Management Loan Committee is required.

      Excellent writing skills are required. The ability to effectively communicate by way of written word as a part of the analytical process and personnel administration is essential.

      The ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in various business situations is required. Must be able to interpret complex financial data as presented in various forms.

      Ability to make appropriate judgments and decisions with limited guidance

      Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.

      Excellent planning and organizational skills, including the ability to work independently on projects of high complexity with minimal supervision

      Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and various types of commercial loan products are required. Proven analytical ability is also a requirement. Verbal and written communication skills are a must. Familiarity with the bank`s loan policy is a must. Excellent managerial skills are a necessity. A high degree of respect and trust from teammates is essential.
