The person in this position performs a variety of clerical /credit duties such as mailing form letters and/or late charge notices to customers to encourage payment of delinquent accounts, confers with customers by telephone attempting to determine the reason for overdue payment, woks with the Credit Manager regarding severely delinquent accounts and assists in planning course of action for successful collection, travels to customers’ homes to collect on late payments; assists with repossessions of merchandise if necessary upon approval of the Store Manager, receives credit applications from customers and initiates credit checks reviewing terms of sales, service, or credit contract with a customer in an attempt to gain payment, answering the telephone and maintaining daily reports, logs, files, and records.
