      Responsibilities

      Weatherford have a very exciting opportunity for an experienced Credit Controller to join the team in Lagos, Nigeria. The Credit Controller will proactively and positively provide input to many departments, functions and procedures to improve business flow and customer service, whilst maintaining focus on the core objective, which is to ensure efficient collection of funds.

      DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Participate in the best working practices to optimize profitability through effective invoicing to collections..
      • Managing Client portfolio to be within the approved Geozone credit limits, payment terms which reduces credit exposures and also providing justification for changes when the need arises.
      • Assisting with writing policies, practices and procedures for invoicing and collection by engaging with Legal and contract department to ensure timely payments structure are worded into contracts.
      • Reducing FX exposures to the Geozone by reviewing contract terms against actual payment from client.
      • Accessing the credit risk of engaging with clients and setting out processes or work flows to mitigate such credit risk as company engages clients.
      • To meet the collection targets as specified in Monthly collection objectives for the Geozone and also analysing on a weekly basis collection status and the support required to achieving it.
      • Reviewing billed and unbilled receivables report with country managers and operations team and provide up to date status for each account with follow up actions taken or be taken.
      • To have regular effective communication and team work with the Finance team and operations staff ensuring that the departments are operating as a cohesive working group.
      • Report any payment issues to management or the appropriate team to ensure client relationship is properly managed.
      • Responsible for preparing and submitting Cash Flow Forecast monthly, along with explanations of variance with actuals and possible reasons for re-forecasting future months in order justify adjustments made.
      • Preparation and submission of accurate report to Local Management and Region Credit Manager within the timelines specified. These include month end reporting packs, ledger review reports, weekly KPI reports and other ad hoc reports required for the effective management of Weatherford accounts receivable.
      • Utilizing the various tools and ERP’s e.g. Get Paid to engage client for prompt responses to queries & inquiries as they arise.

      Qualifications

      REQUIRED:

      • Bachelors Degree or HND in Accounting or related field.
      • 6-10 years accounts receivable experience.
      • Strong organization skills.
      • Effective communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
      • Analytical skills.
      • Detail-oriented.
      • Ability to work as a team to meet company objectives and targets.
      • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
      • Dealing with large blue chip companies.
      • Proven problem solving ability.
      • Diligent, hardworking, committed, flexible, good interpersonal skills.
      • Excellent team spirit.
      • Willing to work additional hours to meet set targets.
      • Ability to work on own initiative.
      • Willing to travel.

      PREFERRED:

      • Other professional qualifications.
      • Knowledge of current legislation.
      • Knowledge of revenue recognition policies.
      • Experience of working for a similar sized organisation.
      • Previous experience in the oil and gas industry.
