      YOU MUST BE A CURRENT TEAMSTER WORKING FOR LOUISVILLE METRO GOVERNMENT TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION.



      Leads work crews involved in road construction, road maintenance, property maintenance, snow removal and other public works projects; enforces safety
      procedures; and monitors crew productivity
      Compiles information and prepares reports
      Inspects work sites to monitor progress and completion of projects and work assignments
      Inspects work sites to determine equipment and materials needed
      Operates heavy vehicles, power tools, trucks, snow plows, salt and brine spreaders, grass cutting and other equipmentUNDER GENERAL SUPERVISION
      Leads, assigns work tasks and reviews completed road construction, road maintenance or property maintenance assignments; verifies establishment of proper work zones and completion of equipment walk-around inspections
      Enforces safety procedures to insure safe operation of equipment and employee safety
      Inspects work sites to determine work methods and procedures, machinery, equipment, tools and materials
      Plans, schedules and adjusts projects and work procedures to meet deadlines
      Attends meetings, provides information, and answers questions concerning public works operations and projects
      Consults with supervisors to discuss problems, procedures and work assignment progress
      Provides technical assistance and instruction concerning the operation and use of light and heavy construction equipment and materials
      Communicates via radio, with crew personnel and to supervisor
      Notifies immediate supervisor of any problems encountered such as property damage, injuries or policy and procedure violations
      Performs duties of Equipment Operator and Senior Equipment Operator classifications

      Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
      Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work
      Spends prolonged periods of time sitting, standing, walking, carrying, stooping and climbing
      Lifts and carries items weighing up to 100 pounds in a team setting
      Spends prolonged periods of time exposed to the elements
      Inspects and observes work areasHigh school diploma or the equivalent
      Three years of road construction, road maintenance, drainage maintenance or property maintenance experience

      Must submit to and pass pre-employment and random alcohol and drug tests as mandated by the Department of Transportation
      Must be on 24 hour call
      Must wear safety equipment as mandated by OSHA
      Must work a varied schedule
      Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
      Must provide one's own source of transportation

      Equivalency
      An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted

      Special Requirements
      PUBLIC WORKS & ASSETS - SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT
      Must attend two U of K Road Scholars Training Courses per year until certified

      KSAs:

      Ability to communicate orally and in writing
      Ability to operate a personal computer and other office equipment
      Ability to write concise and clear reports
