- Independently preparing analytical reports, summaries, assessments, and conclusions on investigations or intelligence collection efforts and presenting analytical findings;
- Ensuring all privacy, confidentiality, civil rights, and civil liberties protections are met during the intelligence cycle and for all analytic products;
- Operating computers, programs, and other technical or electronic equipment when necessary, and maintaining a working knowledge of all available programs applicable to analytical duties;
- Reviewing, evaluating, and analyzing current intelligence data, current events, publications, and online postings related to criminals and criminal activity, crime trends, and the impact of specific crimes within the area and keeping abreast of new sources of information, developments, and technology;
- Assembling and arranging documents for trial purposes and preparing a variety of related reports, graphs, charts, and exhibits to assist investigative personnel and prosecutors with grand jury and trial; and
- Testifying before grand juries and criminal trials on information developed during investigations and criminal cases when required to do so.
- Collaborating with partner agencies and other FDLE entities to collect and share information on identified tactics and techniques, new and emerging threats, and criminal operations as they relate to cyber fraud. Collecting and reviewing digital evidence relating to online scams and fraud, such as spam, botnet, financial fraud, deceptive or unfair marketing or advertising conduct; and
- Performing analysis in cyber fraud and consumer protection cases with technology-related issues, including unfair and deceptive business practices, cybersecurity, antitrust, RICO, civil forfeiture, fraud and scheme to defraud and civil theft cases.
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Experience in criminal intelligence, military intelligence, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis, or in a law enforcement agency can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
- Any combination of education or experience, as described above.
- Completion of a 720-hour program of study from a vocational/technical school or accredited community college in law enforcement can substitute for one year of the required education.
- Knowledge of the methods of data collection;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others;
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing;
- Ability to determine work priorities and insure proper completion of assignments;
- Ability to operate personal computers and networked communications systems;
- Knowledge of report writing techniques;
- Knowledge of research and intelligence analysis techniques;
- Ability to utilize problem solving techniques and make independent decisions;
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information;
- Ability to collect, evaluate, and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, and document work flow;
- Ability to analyze, interpret and summarize criminal intelligence data;
- Ability to analyze financial records; and
- Ability to report and communicate information clearly, concisely and accurately, both verbally and in writing.
- Preference will be given to candidates demonstrating strong skills in critical thinking; analytical research and interpretation; developing and delivering presentations and training to internal FDLE members, as well as, other law enforcement agencies throughout Florida. Applicants should possess excellent multi-tasking skills.
- As a member of a law enforcement agency, during any critical incident or disaster (both natural and man-made), these positions may be designated as an essential service position for a given period. During this time, you may be required to work after normal business hours, during office closures, or during weekends and/or holidays when needed.
- This Crime Intelligence Analyst position is included in the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Crime Intelligence Analyst Progression Plan. POSITION SUMMARY:
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is currently seeking Law Enforcement Analysts to fill multiple Crime Intelligence Analyst positions in the Tampa Bay Regional Operations Center. Positions will support regional operations, Cyber Fraud, and the Lakeland Field Office and will provide analytical support for criminal investigations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Note: 30 semester hours, or equivalent, of coursework from an accredited college or university is equivalent to one year of experience.

Crime Intelligence Analyst I
$40,000 – Bachelor’s degree*
Crime Intelligence Analyst II
$43,000 – Bachelor’s degree* and one year of analytical** experience.
Senior Crime Intelligence Analyst I
$45,000 – Bachelor’s degree* and three years of analytical** experience.
Senior Crime Intelligence Analyst II
$54,000 – Bachelor’s degree* and five years of analytical** experience.
*A master’s degree in criminology, law enforcement intelligence analysis, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis or comparable discipline; or a professional certificate in one of these disciplines can substitute for one year of experience.
**Analytical experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year- for-year basis. Analytical experience must be in the fields of: criminal intelligence, military intelligence, crime analysis or investigative experience in a law enforcement agency.

BACKGROUND:
FDLE requires an extensive background process of all recommended applicants. Salary for these positions will be commensurate with experience and training but are typically filled at the minimum of the class pay range unless otherwise dictated by FDLE's pay policy guidelines.
