      OFFICE OF STATEWIDE INTELLIGENCE/COUNTER-TERRORISM INTELLIGENCE CENTER AND STRATEGIC INTELLIGENCE AND ANALYSIS CENTER

      POSITION SUMMARY:

      These positions are located in the Office of Statewide Intelligence, reporting to either the Counter-Terrorism Intelligence Center or the Strategic Intelligence and Analysis Center. These are full-time positions that are responsible for developing intelligence to reveal trends, patterns or correlations indicative to domestic security, counterterrorism, and criminal activity that threatens the State of Florida. These positions require the ability to work in both a collaborative and independent writing environment, do research, collect data, and create finalized intelligence products. The positions also require excellent facilitation, organizational, and communication skills.

      DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

      Specific duties include:

      • Managing analytic projects, including the development, review, and delivery of a product;
      • Presenting analytical findings via charts, graphics, written documents, and oral briefings;
      • Generating and testing hypotheses and conclusions based on collected data and analytical and professional judgment. Identifying gaps in information and proposing recommendations;
      • Operating computers, programs, and other technical or electronic equipment when necessary, and maintaining a working knowledge with all available programs applicable to analytical duties;
      • Assessing source and information reliability and validity;
      • Identifying and applying structured analytic methods, innovative techniques, and tools to produce analytic products. Keeping abreast of new sources of information, developments, and technology;
      • Responding to requests for investigative assistance from other law enforcement agencies; and
      • Performing on call and other duties as required.

      To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum qualifications(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

      1. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
      2. Experience in criminal intelligence, military intelligence, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis, or in a law enforcement agency can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
      3. Any combination of education or experience, as described above.
      4. Completion of a 720-hour program of study from a vocational/technical school or accredited community college in law enforcement can substitute for one year of the required education.

      Note: 30 semester hours, or equivalent, of coursework from an accredited college or university is equivalent to one year of experience.

      KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

      • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication;
      • Knowledge of the methods of data collection;
      • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures;
      • Ability to deal with the public in a tactful and courteous manner;
      • Ability to work independently;
      • Ability to utilize problem solving techniques;
      • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments;
      • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; and
      • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with others.

      BASE SALARY:

      Salary for this position will be commensurate with experience and training but are typically filled at the minimum of the class pay range unless otherwise dictated by FDLE's pay policy guidelines.

      Crime Intelligence Analyst I

      $41,200 – Bachelor’s degree*

      Crime Intelligence Analyst II

      $44,290 – Bachelor’s degree* and one year of analytical** experience.

      Senior Crime Intelligence Analyst I

      $46,350 – Bachelor’s degree* and three years of analytical** experience.

      Senior Crime Intelligence Analyst II

      $55,620 – Bachelor’s degree* and five years of analytical** experience.

      *A master’s degree in criminology, law enforcement intelligence analysis, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis or comparable discipline; or a professional certificate in one of these disciplines can substitute for one year of experience.

      **Analytical experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year- for-year basis. Analytical experience must be in the fields of: criminal intelligence, military intelligence, crime analysis or investigative experience in a law enforcement agency.

      NOTES:

      The selection process requires several work samples to be completed remotely and in-person, as well as an interview. Future vacancies may be filled from this position advertisement.

      SPECIAL NOTES:

      • Preference will be given to candidates demonstrating strong skills in critical thinking; analytical research and interpretation; developing and delivering presentations and training to internal FDLE members, as well as, other law enforcement agencies throughout Florida. Applicants should possess excellent multi-tasking skills.
      • As a member of a law enforcement agency, during any critical incident or disaster (both natural and man-made), these positions may be designated as an essential service position for a given period. During this time, you may be required to work after normal business hours, during office closures, or during weekends and/or holidays when needed.
      • This Crime Intelligence Analyst position is included in the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Crime Intelligence Analyst Progression Plan. The plan provides professional development training and advancement opportunities to enhance FDLE’s investigative strategy and promote development within the crime analysis field.
