- Assist multi-disciplinary team in creating a welcoming environment for the youth.
- Engage youth in daily groups focused on supporting youth in developing coping skills.
- Facilitate group therapy based in Evidence Based Practices, such as Mindfulness, CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Narrative Therapy.
- Engage the youth in therapeutic processes and activities.
- Provide milieu management to support youth with adhering to program behavioral guidelines.
- Complete daily progress notes.
- Maintain accurate documentation and paperwork including, but not limited to, mental health notes, incident reports, time sheets, and mileage reimbursement as needed.
- Provide transportation for youth when necessary.
- Support other Seneca programs when client enrollment permits.
- Utilize crisis communication and de-escalation techniques as per Seneca's crisis response training.
- Bachelor's degree in a social service related field.
- Valid California Driver's License, and insurance.
- At least 21 years of age.
- TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements.
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
- Ability to work as a team player and with a diverse population.
- Experience working with youth in residential care preferred.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus!
- Full-time
- Monday - Friday; 8am - 4pm.
- No on-call schedule.
- On-site.
- Starting at $25.46 - $27.96 per hour
- Actual salary is dependent on creditable experience above the minimum qualifications for the role.
- Additional compensation provided upon passing bilingual language proficiency exam.

Overview
Do you want clinical experience as a bachelor level staff? Do you want to spend the day providing direct care and facilitating group therapy with teens? Seneca is looking for a Crisis Counselor to join our STEP Partial Hospitalization Program.
The Crisis Counselor provides in-person support for youth enrolled in the STEP Partial Hospitalization Programs. Counselors will facilitate daily group sessions and individual supports in collaboration with the transdisciplinary team. Counselors will provide a safe and nurturing environment for youth enrolled in the program and will intervene as necessary to assist the youth in developing skills for growth and maintaining stabilization.
ABOUT STEP PROGRAMS
The STEP (Skills, Transitions, Exploration, and Progress) program provides Partial Hospitalization services to youth ages 12-17. The goal of the STEP program is to provide intensive, short-term stabilization services to enable our clients to step down to lower levels of outpatient mental health treatment. All groups are designed to teach youth the skills necessary to help them learn about their mental health, provide psychoeducation, and help them learn skills to feel better and be safe. STEP consists of a multidisciplinary team of counselors, clinicians, a nurse, psychiatrist, and program supervisor.
