Job Description

- Mentor and support all Expanded Scope/CCT personnel.
- Direct the orientation process of new Expanded Scope/CCT personnel.
- Provide competency assessment and ongoing training of Expanded Scope/CCT personnel.
- Maintain expert knowledge of and comply with all company and Critical Care Division policies and procedures, codes of safe practice, and job expectations.
- Maintain clinical proficiency at the CCT-P or CCT-RN level.
- Participate in the development and presentation of critical care didactic, clinical, lab, and safety education programs, i.e. Expanded Scope Classes, Critical Care Paramedic Program, SIMMAN scenarios, etc.
- Coordinate certification classes ACLS, PALS, NRP etc.
- Remediate personnel upon the direction of Critical Care leadership.
- Participate in the performance evaluation process for Expanded Scope/CCT personnel.
- Participate in the hiring or promotion process for CCT personnel.
- Participate in Quality and Safety Management programs and perform/oversee data collection, analysis, feedback, and monitoring.
- Participate in the evaluation of new equipment and techniques.
- Attend all required corporate and Critical Care Division Management training and meetings.
- Facilitate and assist in providing required corporate continuing education i.e. OSHA, HIPAA, Compliance, and Documentation.
- Promote the concepts of Shared Governance and Just Culture within the Critical Care Division.
- Demonstrate the ability to function independently; to prioritize, delegate, and utilize critical thinking skills in a variety of situations.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills with all external and internal customers, including patients and their families, hospital staff, the community, and other Superior Ambulance personnel.
- Participate in special projects and committees.
- Assist with ambulance staffing and deployment as needed/available
- Current license as a Paramedic or Registered Nurse
- One (1) year critical care transport experience
- Associates/Bachelor’s Degree
- Board Certification in a critical care specialty (FP-C,CCP-C, CFRN, CTRN)
- Demonstrated Leadership e.g. FTO, PIC or Preceptor
- Instructor for ACLS, PALS, and/or Trauma Certification Courses
- Management Education, including Human Factors/Crew Resource Management, Stress and Fatigue
- Management, Safety and Risk Management, and Quality Management.
- Board Certification in a critical care specialty (FP-C, CCP-C, CFRN, or CTRN) within one (1) year
- Must successfully complete pre-employment testing, including a complete physical and lifting agility examination.
- Must be able to work in a confined space in a stressful environment while providing patient care.
- Must be able to occasionally work outdoors in inclement weather.
- Must have full use of eyes, ears and full power of speech.
- Must be able to handle stresses related to patient care in transport, without compromising personal or overall transport safety. All staff members are encouraged to make lifestyle choices that promote healthy living as it relates to job performance.

OverviewHistory of the Company: Superior Ambulance Service started in 1959 with one ambulance and today is the largest independent, locally owned, and operated emergency medical services provider in the Midwest. Superior employs more than 3,000 licensed EMTs, Paramedics and Nurses, operating a fleet of more than 800 ambulances throughout Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Superior also provides Critical Care, helicopter, and fixed wing emergency medical transportation.
The Critical Care Clinical Educator provides clinical guidance, support, supervision and leadership to the Expanded Scope and Critical Care personnel assigned. The Critical Care Clinical Educator works in coordination with Critical Care leadership.
