Job summary
Princess Royal Critical Care is an 8 bedded general ITU/HDU that is staffed flexibly depending on the acuity of the patients. We are a small friendly team, dedicated to providing the highest standards of care to critically ill patients. We support an active, acute medical take, ED, a growing complex elective surgery take, maternity services and some emergency surgery.
We work closely with our larger sister unit at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton and occasional cross site working is required to maintain safe service provision.
We have Band 5 Staff Nurse posts available and are looking forwho has more than a year of acute experience to join our friendly and diverse team. Excellent communication skills are vital to ensure the smooth running of the unit at all times and complement our positive team culture. We offer ongoing training, support and professional development and encourage full participation with best practice initiatives and audit.
Main duties of the job
You will be part of the critical care team and will be looking after critically unwell patients.
Your role will involve becoming proficient in critical care nursing and you will be expected to study outside of work in order to achieve your competencies within the national framework.
We will support this professional development with a number of in house study days, a university based critical care course and a number of 1:1 coaching shifts with a practice educator.
You will be expected to adhere to our local guidelines and policies and join in with the unit safety and governance.
