Act as the primary interface to internal functions, including Senior Cenovus personnel, as well as pipelines and terminals where we transport Cenovus commodities
Participate in activities such as providing inventory visibility through management of liquid bulk commodity working capital
Deliver reliable supply while at the same time minimizing working capital and improving commercial delivery through identifying optimization opportunities
Awareness of physical exposures at all times to ensure optimization of asset operations
Provide support and advice to traders by identifying daily physical position, and transportation capacity and utilize forecasts by asset
Proven track record to implement trade strategies from concept to the execution stage in a risk-controlled manner
Facilitation of crude, diluent, and product blending
Nominate volumes for shipments to international/domestic pipelines and terminals that correspond with the TSL trade strategy
Use in-depth knowledge of contracts, and work closely with Business Development and Trading to assess the various ways to optimize storage and transportation of assets
Understand, track, and develop communications for key partners of Force Majeure, cuts/curtailments/increases, as well as supervise Pipeline outage report and assess their impacts to minimize risk to our production
Use strong operational knowledge while being on-call 24/7 to handle any impacts related to operation of transportation and storage assets
Strong understanding of commercial value drivers and ability to demonstrate this savvy while running interconnects between transport modes to ensure safe and timely handoff to/from pipeline, rail and marine, contributing to commercial targets in excess of $300MM/yr
Confirmed commercial knowledge and competence to effectively influence others; making critical and timely decisions that mitigate production and consumption supply disruptions
Schedule crude on upstream or downstream pipelines for short-term coverage
Assist with reconciliation of best available volumes with mid and back-office functions and approve invoices within compliance-set delegations (>$15MM per invoice) without oversight
Mitigate transportation position per transactional delegations of authority (transfers/swaps/buy & sells)
Must be legally entitled to work in the Canada
University Degree in Business (Finance), Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or Engineering preferred
3-5 years of experience in Oil & Gas, preference will be given to those with experience in a Trading & Scheduling Department.
Strong ability to analyze sophisticated information & details, and present findings in a clear concise format
Extensive knowledge of the pipeline’s rules and regulations
Ability to respond optimally/efficiently to the needs of diverse clients with a focus on customer service
Experience with liquid commodities
Intermediate to Advanced MS Excel skills with familiarity of Visual Basic (VBA), SQL, R/Python and Power BI
Price fundamentals and risk management knowledge will be an asset
In-depth knowledge of U.S. and Canadian crude and diluent transport (rail/pipe) systems
Sound understanding of logistical interfaces between pipe, rail and marine transportation interconnects
ETRM experience including, Egistix, Allegro

The Crude Oil & Diluent Scheduler at Cenovus is responsible for managing the safe and efficient movement of crude and diluent products to and from domestic and international hubs. Key duties include ensuring continuous operations, setting and executing nomination strategies, and optimizing supply plans for various commodities. The role involves direct interaction with senior personnel and external partners, particularly during operational issues. As a critical part of the Scheduling team, the Scheduler helps optimize the supply chain from crude acquisition to product placement, striving to improve operational performance, reduce costs, and build additional value.
