- Manage and work investigative cases referred from internal and external sources utilizing technology and tools
- Provide timely investigative results
- Provide quick, accurate and formulated case decisions and/or conclusions that will reduce losses, protect our customers and safeguard the integrity of our products and reputation
- Gather, research and analyze facts relevant to an investigative case and draw conclusions on said facts
- Ensure proper adherence to investigative standards, case aging protocols and report writing
- Interact with law enforcement and other outside entities
- Brief others on an ongoing investigations/investigative projects
- Utilizes appropriate investigative techniques to collect, review, interpret and analyze facts developed during the employment screening process. Compile supportive information through contacting clients, courts, and vendors to develop an internal client recommendation.
- Analyzes employment screening results which may include criminal records and fingerprint reports for issues that would disqualify a subject per Citi’s employment screening standards.
- Research statues; local, state and federal as they relate to criminal findings and Regulatory guidelines imposed by federal and state agencies such as the Federal Insurance Deposit Corporation (FDIC), Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS).
- Partners with Compliance and the Employment Law group to ensure that Citi businesses are operating in compliance with the Company’s background screening policies and adhering to regulations of employment that govern the business.
- Focus on thoroughness, quality, attention to detail, timeliness and cost-effective investigations.
- Ability to read law publications, policies, procedures, directives, letters, memos, and general legal correspondence.
- The incumbents in this position contact others within the organization. These contacts may involve similar functional units or departments within the company such as Human Resources, Employee Relations and Legal/Compliance which may be involved in decision making.
- Requires in depth knowledge of each business within Citi and governing legal and regulatory requirements that have an impact on the hiring process within that business.
- Supports other CSIS teams or businesses requiring assistance or benefiting from the capabilities of this position.
- Participates in team meetings and special projects.
- Participation in internal CSIS working groups and/or strategic projects.
- 5-8 years of experience
- Ability to conduct investigative interviews and recording techniques that tie the facts and evidence together
- Experience investigating case(s) that have impact to the firm
- Demonstrated report writing that would present the case and evidence gathered in a cohesive and comprehensive manner
- Must demonstrate a strong ability to multi-task, prioritize, organize and analyze facts, manage a case load, and author comprehensive and concise case notes
- Excellent communication needed for marketing case work and obtaining cooperation of other parties
- Solid judgment and decision making skills

The CSIS Sr Investigator is a seasoned professional role. Applies in-depth disciplinary knowledge, contributing to the development of new techniques and the improvement of processes and work-flow for the area or function. Integrates subject matter and industry expertise within a defined area. Requires in-depth understanding of how areas collectively integrate within the sub-function as well as coordinate and contribute to the objectives of the function and overall business. Evaluates moderately complex and variable issues with substantial potential impact, where development of an approach/taking of an action involves weighing various alternatives and balancing potentially conflicting situations using multiple sources of information. Requires good analytical skills in order to filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex and dynamic material from multiple sources. Excellent communication and diplomacy skills are required. Regularly assumes informal/formal leadership role within teams. Involved in coaching and training of new recruits. Significant impact in terms of project size, geography, etc. by influencing decisions through advice, counsel and/or facilitating services to others in area of specialization. Work and performance of all teams in the area are directly affected by the performance of the individual.
