- The Child Support Services Application Specialist is responsible for reviewing and determining action to take on incoming child support referral from county Department of Social Services offices, clerks of court and general public. Use considerable judgment in determining proper action requited, accuracy and conformity with federal regulations, so that each case is brought to proper conclusion.
- Reviews referrals submitted by the general public, county Department of Social Services, Clerks of Court and analyzes data to determine the necessary services required.
- Accesses information and determines the validity from various agencies computer systems. Must be able to compare and evaluate data from these systems and have extensive knowledge of the utility.
- Reviews cases for potential fraud or claim of good cause for refusal to cooperate with Child Support Services.
- Does on-line entry to the IV-D automated system on all IV-D cases.
- Provides updates and assists in the processing of data to appropriate offices within Child Support Services and Clerk of Court offices to ensure proper child support collection and the distribution thereof.
- Maintains case records in accordance with Federal regulation. Prepares case files for legal action by gathering supporting documentation from clients, county Department of Social Services and Clerks of Court.
- Corresponds with clients by letter requesting information and offering continuation of IV-D services. Monitors clients responses for appropriate action and forward responses to the appropriate offices within Child Support.
- Determines procedures for case assessment and prioritizing according to Federal regulations.
- Consults and serves as liaison with Clerks of Court, Office of Child Support Services, legal staff, financial staff and IV-D staff to resolve client problems, completion of child support projects and assignments mandated by Federal and State requirements.
- Follows problem cases through Child Support Services system to ensure that timely and current action is taken.
- Performs job delivery and/or performance or appropriate customer service delivery to clients, the public and co-worker as an integral requirement.
- Performs Red Cross shelter duty or other emergency shelter duty/services as directed.

Job Duties:
A High School Diploma and three (3) years of experience in clerical, administrative, social work, correctional, business administration, or general business.
An Associate's Degree and one (1) year of experience in clerical, administrative, social work, correctional, business administration, or general business.
